Although, if you can feel both buttons beneath the ENTER key, that means it has the improved keyboard.
Because the description of the keyboard made by nephilim is just like my old dm42.
Both of my DM42 here have the two-click Enter-key. But I can do the trick in https://youtu.be/OaKvP8-2iB0 only if I use the other hand to hold the DM42 firmly on the table. That, the yellow color and the quality of print made me believe I had the the old hardware standard, different from the product (or rendering) shown on the website and the video (different model but same keyboard quality).
I eventually bought a new dm42 and received it. The keyboard is definitely better, as good as the dm41x’s but I’m a bit disappointed about the font used for the labels on the faceplate. This font is bigger. I prefer the older painting. The font used for the top (SwissMicros DM42) is also better on the old version.
Many thanks for sharing this comparison! On the old version the labels are centered above the keys. On the new version "Alpha" has moved to the left, "ASIN", "ACOS", "BST" and "SST" have moved to the right. It's difficult to judge but on my two samples (new version) the print is also a bit pixelated. The videos on youtube from a few years ago indicate a better print quality. I sort of like the bigger font - even more if aligned and printed properly.
I would love to get faceplates which fit to a 200EUR device...
Checked the photo again. Your sample and both of mine apparently share a dent in the casing just above the "M" in DM42 and a rough patch between "x" and "/" on the right edge. I know... it's "just" a tool.
Thanks to SM's excellent support the cosmetic issues are history now. Looking forward to the WP43S, which will be my next purchase.
What was the remedy? My DM42 suffers from the same issues, along with a smudge on the case around the corner from the SwissMicros logo that exposes specks of bare metal...
SM sent new faceplates. Labels are centered and printed properly. The only nitpick is that on the replacements "S", "W", "-" and " " along the right edge have a smaller font size than "F" and "L" further above. But I can live with that. The casings of my two units have a small dent next to the "M" of "DM42", but it is still black with no metal shining through.
