What then? A DM 01X?
Yes! 8-)

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=2007&start=50#p10732
But a DM 01X would have a portrait form factor, and even bigger on the wrist than the original! ;)

A evolution of the DM15L, the DM15X, with the DM42 hardware, evolution of the I/O, looking like the DM42/41X setup menu and much more memory ?
An evolution of the DM15L is the DM42, like the HP-42S was an evolution of the HP-15C. No, I don't want to fall back to programming key codes.
I think that HP15C and HP42s are different in philosophy, and for me the 42s was the evolution of 41CX.

I still use my HP15c sometime, and what is also interesting is to try, like we did at the beginning with 41c, to be as shorter as possible when writing programs.

It is like for cars, it is pleasant to drive a Jaguar but also to drive a 2CV Citroen or a MG A: the pleasure is just different and we don't throw away oldest cars. And I don't forget what happens when I was in college or in first year of university, and the pleasure I had with a small scientist Commodore, bought in Scotland, my TI-58C, which have been my first own calculator, the HP 41C that a colleague lend to me for 2 years, the 41 CV I bought later and the 11C that I replaced by a 15C (during my PhD) ; it like the apple II (lend also to me) and the first Mac SE I bought.
Maybe that I am too romantic about calculators and computers ?

So my question was just related to improvement to DM15L, in order to have a simpler way to implement the interface with the computer, because for example interface my DM41L with my Mac is just really boring (it why I did not implement the last firmware of the DM41L and was happy to get the DM41X.

Of course you're right, in principle, but like homo sapiens (sapiens??), 42S has more than just one antecessor on its evolutionary path.

And don't be afraid, this forum is full of people feeling romantic (or nostalgic) about their calculators in the times when they were younger, so much younger than today. :) I began my HP life with an HP-25C, for example 8-)

Respect !!!!

My father, in his lab had a HP 25 for all his research team !!

I did not have the opportunity to manipulate it :|

Rest assured it's impossible to manipulate an HP-25: turn it off and on and all your manipulations are gone. Quite different experience with an HP-25C featuring the revolutionary Continuous Memory 8-)

I did not know if it was a C or not. I remember the color and the diodes...

Olivier,

Check out this website:

http://hp-15c.homepage.t-online.de/content_web.htm

This is a a very nice HP-15C simulator (Windows, Linux, Mac) that includes a USB interface to SwissMicro's DM15L, allowing copying of programs, etc. It may be just what you are looking for.

Well, we had a discussion about such a device some years ago. Panamatik's low power Woodstocks were the background. But we didn't pursue it any further since the display turned out being the limiting factor (as it is frequently).
