Thank you all. But honestly, if we didn't have this thread we'd think hardly anybody is interested in the WP43S since nobody seems to use our SW and test it on PC or DM42 HW - at least we cannot detect any feedback or error reports. This may be a sign of infinite trust in us though I doubt it's a sign of good quality for a scientist or engineer - you shall not believe but check! Looking forward to your messages.
You are right Walter, but how can I effectively test WP43S?

1st remark:
I don't have the possibility to run the emulator on WINDOWS because I only work on MAC OS.
2nd remark:
the emulator on DM42 is fine but has problems with quick program changes (DM42-3.19.pgm <==> WP43S.pgm) because you have to reload the QSPI. It is then necessary to make full backups on both sides. If I had a second DM42, I would work well with WP43S.pmg.
3rd remark:
the most interesting functions to test (in my opinion) are not yet fully available : programming functions, matrix processing functions, general graphical processing functions, integration functions, and especially ASN!
I find it preferable to work with the DM42 emulator from Jaymos which can be found here https://classic43.com/Classic43/Links_a ... loads.html because it is not necessary to change the QSPI for the exchange of programs (DM42-3.19.pgm <==>C43_???.pgm). The operation is simple and fast. Unfortunately the SNAP function (essential for the tester) assigned to a key is missing (we have to look for it in the functions catalog).

As for the layout, I propose a very simple solution. I print the layout of the C43 on plasticized paper (with my Canon Selphy 900) in 89*70 mm format. Two thin strips of double-sided adhesive paper make it fit directly on the keyboard of my DM42. The flexibility of the paper allows to press the keys without any problem.

Be sure that when the development is more advanced, there will be more remarks and feedbacks.

Best regards to all.
Pierre

Merci, Pierre, I can comprehend your point of view. Just one remark: matrix functions should be all in now.

There's WineHQ for MacOS:

Re Wine…

I tried to Bottle an earlier version of 43 into a Mac App last year using WineBottler, and could not make a successful single file application that worked on my Mac.

I don’t quite know why it didn’t work, I suppose there are too many libraries to try include.

It is not easy but I’ll try keep without QSPI, as I see my C43 variant in the same firmware swappable camp as DM42 and WP34C (Nigel’s), as opposed to WP43S and DM41X with dedicated hardware. Problem is due to increasing functions, it is a challenge to publish without QSPI ;) .
Unfortunately the SNAP function (essential for the tester) assigned to a key is missing (we have to look for it in the functions catalog).

DM42, C43 and WP43S have a standard unmarked SNAP on shift-E. I will add an option to place SNAP on Σ+ though.

I moved away from Windows to the Mac ten years Ago and not in a rush to return. I got a second Mac recently so might set up Linux. I will be Happy to test the software on these platforms.
When we decided about a simulator, we looked for which OS we'll get maximum coverage per cost and found (surprise!) we achieve it with Windows. Creating and maintaining simulators for more OS has far less benefit per work hour so it's not really on top of our priority list. Thanks for your understanding. What works always, however, is reflashing a DM42. Enjoy!

The WP 43S (custom build c09c1e79) works well on my 2019 MacBook Pro running macOS 11.2.3. I use wine only for pleasure and inspiration :D

Wine or WINE? I use them both. Usually WINE frustrates me leading to me needing more wine.

Hello, new forum member. I joined after reading through the threads on the WP43S, specifically to express support and an intention to purchase when available. I’d happily purchase a beta, sprint run, or however it happens.

I had seen references to the 43, both here on the SM forums at on the museum forums, but it took until now for me to find time to read though all of the threads to see what it is all about.

I “grew up” on non-RPN models, mostly Casios such as the fx-82a, fx-85, and fx-115. In college I used the fx-7000G, which I still own. I finally joined the RPN crowd when the 33s came out. I added a 35s when it was released and it has been my primary physical calculator since. I’ve used PCalc on iOS for years, but switched to Free42 relatively recently.

I’m keeping a close eye on this project as I decide whether to grab a DM42 now or wait for the 43. I fully expect to own both at some point!
