Kudos to both teams; you are doing great work.
Do you have an estimate when the C43 bezels will be available for purchase?

Since it seems to be about time to write laudation(e)s, please allow me to thank Jaco for his valuable contributions to WP43S so far. In particular, almost everything you see of statistic graphs on the WP43S goes back to him. He found and still finds also many errors and logical disruptions in our code. :D

And since we agree to disagree on some basic layout and UI topics, you may get both: a WP43S and a WP43C. So it became a win-win-win situation. 8-)

Let me rather under promise and say hopefully soon; watch over in the other thread - this was to provide clarity, but is a wrong post in the right forum if not for 43S pilot.

Since not everyone keeps endless track, perhaps provide a pointer to the proper thread?

Thanks for all your team, and the WP43S team's efforts! I plan to purchase both (bezel + dedicated DM42, WP43S) ASAP.

Well, friends, we're slowly approaching pilot run - more realistic: it is approaching us. It looks like encompassing thirty (30) units. Please note this will be not the final products but a first run for getting test objects with our keyboard and backside prints and software v0.23.1 inplemented. Later series production will include a refined PCB carrying a new faster processor and more memory (like the DM32). Nevertheless, these pilot units shall be as functional as later batches and can be flashed, of course, as our software grows.

Presently, the odds are high you can see and touch some condensed vapourware in Allschwil.

Thus, this call goes to those 8 of you who queued first above many months ago. If you want such a pilot unit still, you will get it at reduced cost, i.e. for less money than the WP43 will be listed (alas, I can't tell you the exact amount yet, but will do soon); please send me your mail address by forum private mail if you want one pilot unit. If you don't, please decline in writing so the next person waiting in the queue will get a chance.

Thanks for your patience and for supporting our project so far.

EDIT 1: As long as you won't participate in Allschwil and we can't ship hardware via e-mail yet, please send me your snail mail address if ... (please see above). Thanks!

EDIT 2: Just to be clear: There will be no stickers, decals, or alike on these units. All solid prints.

EDIT 3: Processes become clearer and easier:
  1. Most important information: 1 WP43S pilot unit can be purchased for 100 CHF. I think that's a fair offer covering a bit of SM's setup and production cost for this pilot run.
  2. You're entitled to get one if you are under the first 25 in the queue here in this thread.
Note the upgrade for the PCB (as mentioned above) will be 30 CHF when it will be available (in 2023); this will make a pilot unit functionally the same as the final WP43. However, to fit the updated PCB the USB hole will need to be filed to make room for the USB-C connector (SM won't do the filing of the case, so it needs to be done by whoever purchases the PCB.) "People who want pilot units should be informed that they will need to purchase the new PCB for CHF 30 and file the case if they want the final WP43."
If you qualify and want one unit, please send me a forum private mail - I'll return a discount code to you.
  3. Purchasing will be through the SM website; go to the DM42 page: https://www.swissmicros.com/product/dm42
+ Add a single DM42 to the cart.
+ Select "Credit Card Checkout" - discounts cannot be applied to Apple Pay or PayPal.
+ Ensure in the notes section that it is clear that this is for a WP43 not a DM42 by writing "For WP43"!
+ Add the discount code (see above) and click "Apply".
+ Fill out the remaining details and "Place Order".
That's it.

EDIT 4 (22-10-26): I've to pour some water in the wine. Learned today that only the first 10 in the queue qualify for a pilot unit for 100 CHF. Business. Sorry.

Walter, in case anybody else wonder also, I post this publicly:

I sent you my snail mail yesterday by PM as instructed. Does this suffice, or will I need to keep watching this post and do more? And how do I make sure to get #1?

Best regards, H2X

This was a crossing of posts. 8-) Please read EDIT 3 above.

About #1, I'm afraid the odds are >96% you won't get it since some early units go to us, the developers, and to SM for reasons you will comprehend, won't you? I've no idea yet how SM will deal with the further incoming orders. Sorry.

I get it, no problem. I just read something to that effect earlier, so I asked. 8-)
