Haakon, if you want to advertise the modified 43S (aka 43C), please don't hijack a thread of the true 43S.H2X wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 7:33 pmI don't know about the DM41X, but you can run it on the DM42. The WP43S has an entirely different keyboard, but if this bothers you, you could try the WP43C which has a keyboard layout which is compatible with the DM42 (the keys and yellow shifted labels are the same, and you can get on screen help with the blue ones).

Re: WP 43S Pilot Run (Poll!)
I did not intend to hijack anything - only to point out that right now, the DM42 keys and faceplate "obstacle" can be overcome if that is perceived as a problem. That would potentially add another tester of your code. Let me know if you find this obtrusive, and I'll gladly delete this and my previous post in this thread.Walter wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 7:54 pmHaakon, if you want to advertise the modified 43S (aka 43C), please don't hijack a thread of the true 43S.H2X wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 7:33 pmI don't know about the DM41X, but you can run it on the DM42. (PS: While I am involved in the 43C, I am also committed to buying a 43S.)
What is the metric tensor in imperial units?
Re: WP 43S Pilot Run (Poll!)
Thank you! I will purchase a DM41X and give it a tryWalter wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 7:46 pmI know at least two users running WP 43S on their DM42. The way to achieve this is quite easy: go to https://gitlab.com/Over_score/wp43s/-/t ... umentation, download the Reference Manual, go to App. F, and proceed as explained there. Enjoy!SamB wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 5:24 pmI have a quick question: I have the impression that the WP43S is already running on some user’s DM42 hardware, but I have searched and cannot find where instructions are to install this. Are these instructions readily available? Can some of the people who want to be in the pilot run but are over the 50 unit limit do this? Can the firmware be installed readily on DM42 or DM41X? Since I can’t seem to find any mention of this anywhere, I am thinking this might not be an allowed topic; if so please delete! Thanks
I guess you can do this also with a DM41X if you don't own a DM42.
Re: WP 43S Pilot Run (Poll!)
Hi Haakon, I have read your thread on the 43C and it sounds like a good solution to having different keys, but I think I will stick to the original design intent of the 43S. But, thank you for the information.H2X wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 7:33 pmThe WP43S has an entirely different keyboard, but if this bothers you, you could try the WP43C which has a keyboard layout which is compatible with the DM42 (the keys and yellow shifted labels are the same, and you can get on screen help with the blue ones). Or you could print out the layout, maybe create an overlay.

Polarising this post (this is your second public reference to ‘hijacking’) is in nobody’s interest. People who want a ‘true’ one in their hands will certainly not be deterred and will do so regardless of being able to test either simulator on their pc, or test either 43S or 43C on their DM42 beforehand?
Just calm down.

Just a little peek in one of our worldwide development labs:
. We're obviously lacking a laser cutter - donations are welcome.
(We can display the same numbers with the usual decimal comma and a multiplication point as well, of course. Saves space and eases vector algebra.)

I don't know where i saw this (will have a look later) but someone 3D printed a HP48 overlay.
If the printer has good resolution and you make one layer this works.
With a good printer it might even be possible to print labels in another colour.
Good 3D printers are also expensive but more common than lasercutters.
Do I understand this calculator exceeds the accuracy, in number of digits, of the DM42 ?
edit: It was the DM41 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2981286

Marketing at its finest!
Sounds great, technically true, but utterly meaningless.

Re: WP 43S Pilot Run (Poll!)
Has everyone here heard the Microsoft joke along those lines? If not, here goes: A helicopter was flying over Seattle in a thick fog. The pilot was trying to find the airport but became disoriented and flew next to a large building. A person leaned out of a window and the pilot asked, "Where am I?" The man answered, "You're in a helicopter." The pilot immediately flew directly to the airport. When asked how he did it, he answered, "Well, the answer I got was technically correct but totally meaningless. I knew it must be Microsoft HQ and, voila! I had my bearings again."
