Re: 43S Pilot Run (Poll!)
I will buy a pilot calculator.
Let me know how to proceed.

Re: 43S Pilot Run (Poll!)
I won't blame you for not reading through 46 pages of forum posts, but the short version is: There are no more pilot units available and regular production units are expected sometime in 2023.

Thank you gmac42 for your kind response, let's wait when it available.
Re: 43S Pilot Run (Poll!)
Received yesterday. Unit #42
After unboxing, at first power-on it was showing a DMCP screen saying “Incompatible Program”, I chose option 1. Start WP43 Anyway (not safe)
Since that it seems to work correctly.
I’ve seen this issue reported a couple of times here and here but have not seen any answer.
Currently BATT? reports 2.692.
First feedback:
This WP43 pilot unit is my third SwissMicros unit after a DM42 in 2017 and a DM41X beta unit in 2020. It’s the same design and sturdy case but I see significant improvements in the keyboard, both on the key legends quality and the key press which are now a bit more firm and clicky but without any missed or bounced keys as I experienced initially on my DM42 (now reworked with latest domes). Overall great keyboard even if not as smooth as the one on the 41 or the Voyagers in the 80’s.
I'm impressed by the quality of the WP43 and the attention to the details such as the printing on the back or the little shutter sound when taking a snapshot of the screen. This pilot unit looks and feels like a final one apart from colors not matching exactly between the key legends, f and g keys and the colors on both sides of the screen for the f and g rows.
The software is pretty solid so far and I’ve not experienced any crash or error, apart from a few issues I've reported here and which are not unexpected on a pilot unit.
I’ve entered a couple of programs and it took me some time to find all the different functions (even if I've used previously the simulator). The feature set is quite extensive and I've only scratched the surface, it is based on the already full featured WP 34S plus more.
On the UI side, I've seen discussions about pros and cons of the three levels of soft menus on the display and I must say that on the real device it is very useful, there are so many functions available that having as many as possible nicely visible on the screen is definitively a good thing.
One thing I really would like to have is an “EXIT All” key as going back up to 8 menus with the EXIT key before exiting all menus can be annoying, especially when wanting to exit from program mode (I know it can be done with f P/R but I keep pressing EXIT as on the 42 – muscle memory …). A long press on EXIT to exit all open items would be nice (I don’t think it would conflict with anything already implemented).
That’s all I can say for now. Thanks to all who made the WP43 a reality !

Your wish was our command: EXITALL should be implemented as you want it - it's actually documented in release 0.23.1 (ReM of 22-10-10). Alas, the calculator doesn't know and thus doesn't do it (yet).

Great ! Can’t wait to see it implemented in a new firmware revision.

Re: 43S Pilot Run (Poll!)
received one Pilot Unit.
1) sad: empty battery ... (possibly screwed together with little enthusiasm?)
2) otherwise the same observations as Didier,

Sorry for the empty battery. Though we're responsible for the software (and take care of it) but have no influence on the hardware execution which is entirely controlled by SM.Thomas_ER wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 7:43 amreceived one Pilot Unit.
