Hi there,
when i was searching on a program to calculate somehow close fractions or, even better, show a close pi or sqrt value i found this program:
https://www.hpmuseum.org/software/qpi/42sqpi.htm
Now I'm curious if the behavior on the DM42 is different then on the HP42s.
Because I do net get e.g. sqrt(2) or -sqrt(2) as result. As well I do get values with pi up to 4*pi. But with 5*pi it gives a "normal" fraction. Is this the same on the original HP42s?
Can I modify the code to work as intended on the DM42?
I think this is a very useful program.
Best regards
Friedrich

Re: Calculate closest fraction or sqrt...
For whatever reason, the QPI program is dependent on the set DISP. Therefore I have configured FIX 06 as default.

Ah, yes, you are right! If I go to more digits it becomes better. Is it possible to change that behavior?

I thought that was deliberate, to allow you to set the required accuracy?
