The question now is easier. On the new layout, we could indeed throw away SAVE (the I/O menu is shown on the screen below), STK could move to [g][1].
FILL could re-appear at [g][Up]. Or we could leave it like this for now. Instead of FILL, we could consider CLRSTK on [g][Up] directly below ENTER.

In this example I use the shaded labels. They are growing on me and I'm liking them more). As said earlier, the emulator reads in a CSS file with the colours, so it is so easy to exchange shaded labels and underlined labels.
Of course [f] and [g] [7] must swap.

I definitely need PRGM on a button.
TIMER is debatable and may simply go sit in the I/O menu. So there, possibly, I would say maybe for an available space.

This is my mistake, I haven't made myself clear enough. The fact that on the last line there are again left functions and right menus seems to be no problem to me. But that has now resolved, SHOW has landed here, now it works almost like the 42S.
Before the paper scavenger hunt starts again:
R.BR on [f] [7], B.BR on [g] [7], VIEW on [f] [8] and INFO on [g] [8].
I like it also. But don't throw away the last iteration.

One of the possible future uses of this position could be the CUSTEM1 menu?

I checked the manual, under SAVE, and now I think there is sense to have SAVE on a button instead of in I/O, i.e. to make a flash memory backup, simply hit [g] [SAVE], so I guess SAVE stays: I quote:

I'm not quite sure now, but for me this sounds like the function "Calc State" in the DM42. [SETUP] [2nd Calc. State >] [2nd Save State]. All ASSSIGN, register contents, variables etc. are written there into a SAVE file and can be loaded again after flashing a new firmware. Of course I can also be wrong.

Another little note, but then is enough from my side for today. We have violated the law 'no stack operations on the cursor keys'. Couldn't you put CNST on [g] [Cursor UP], CNST needs a lot of cursor operations to scroll through the menus anyway. And then distribute STK, CPX and EXP as logically as possible across the [g] positions of [x<>y], [CHS] and [EEX].

What is the f() shift option on the [EXIT] key? Do we have to g() shift [EXIT] to switch the calculator off? If yes - isn't this a bit obscure?
