Always thought it was a bit strange that clearing the stack was a three-button operation. Not sure whether doing that or <-/0 ENTER ENTER ENTER is better.
Does anyone have a better way? I like my 12c's ability to clear with just f - sigma.

Re: best way to clear a hp42s?
The benefit of 0 ENTER ENTER ENTER is that it works on all HP related RPN calculators.
The recommended way for the 42 is f CLEAR CLST which saves 1 key press.
The shortest I know for for instance the HP-15C is [-][ON], clearing all memory hence also the stack
I'm sure the HP-42S has (and DM42 will have) something similar, but I do not have those (yet), so cannot comment on them.

I made a little program called CA. It executes stack+alpha clear, reset flags and display functionality according to my standards. Pressing xeq CA is all what you need.
