1 +.

Should you come to NY keithdalby, I'll buy you a beer.
1++
Likewise, if you ever turn up in Riga, I'll buy you a beer as well :)
Or Arizona!

I wonder how many discovered SwissMicros by mistake on their search for an accurate timepiece, and accidentally bought a DM42 thinking it was such a timepiece, then proceeded to moan about the accuracy of their calculator in keeping time. I wonder.
LOL! And that thread is still ticking! I crunch my numbers with my DM42, and I keep my time with my Omega Speedmaster Professional! If it's good enough to get Apollo 13 home, it's good enough for me. Cheers!

LOL? Seriously? I was starting to get my hopes up for a DM-01...

Definitely. Perhaps more than one... Prost!

Hi all,

As a Computer program developper was I looking for a Programmer oriented calculator such as the one I got when I was by far less older ( :-) )
I do not remember the model but it was'nt the usual Casio CM-100 neither the HP-16C.

Interested in RPN calculator (Young, was I more Texas Intrument minded) I decided to search for an HP-16C but the prices are discouraging :o .
Then I discovered than SwissMicro was providing new version of the HP-16C and I finally ordered one this week-end. ;)

I'm discovering a complete new world with the DM16L, the DM42, the announces over DM41X, ... I'll have to save some euros to face my future investments in HP-Like calculators :)

A few years ago I needed a scientific calculator for the first time in years.

So I wanted to purchase an HP RPN of course. Only to discover that they didn't make any of the series I loved and what seemed to be the closest to it was the HP 35S. So I bought one and immediately disliked it, although it worked but... I found it to be clumsy, with a bad contrast display well I disliked it much and started dreaming about a good 'ole HP 15C.

Googled a bit and then found out that a Swiss company was building replicas of the complete Voyager series and had excellent reviews.

So I jumped on the train.

No way, it is no RPN ...

Being a long-time user (number-cruncher) and aficionados of HP calculators, I became progressively dissatisfied with the lacking evolution (for near the last 2 decades) of their mostly little innovative recent RPN designs (the Prime model excepted). Then I purchased the WP34S and realize that there were still very bright people devoted in some serious commitment and successful attempt towards the ultimate RPN calculator. And, through them, I heard about their hopeful WP43S project and about this evolving Free42 emulator (revealing quite impressive programming & numerical precision achievements) and then the related development of some SwissMicros interesting new products. Therefore, I didn’t hesitate to purchase the DM42 and I can give you here my personal evaluation of SwissMicros commitment and of some other future trends:

Customer’s Opinion: At last, some hopeful trends in the world of calculator evolution ...

The present and foreseen families of SwissMicros DM handheld calculators deserve to be recognised for their quality design and scientific usefulness. Their products cover a wide spectrum of self-contained numerical/programmable tools based on RPN logic performing flawlessly from normal calculation to even quite powerful number crunching, up to decimal128 precision, as already implemented in the unprecedented DM42 unit (thanks to outstanding development of the Free42 emulator). Great work up to now (and very good aftersales service)!

Being a satisfied DM42 owner, I apprehend the various ongoing projects like the DM41X and moreover the community-developed WP43S (or of some other original project like Python to RPN Converter) as revealing hopeful positive trends towards the emergence of renewed interest in the world of calculator/emulator development. In this forefront area, there is also some other initiative which is worth mentioning like this French NumWorks calculator/emulator which introduces nicely to Python programming. Overall, these new trends may turn out to be quite promising and we all should keep posted.
