I collect HP calculators. My favorite has always been my HP-41C and CV models. I have three. I was looking at my HP-45 six weeks ago and began wondering if anyone has re-manufactured a NiCad battey replacement pac. I searched the Internet and saw a reference to the DM42 on some obscure website. It sounded interesting so I checked it out. I found SwissMocros had just released their DM41X. Further research inspired me to buy a DM41X. It arrived in two weeks and WOW. It's amazing. SwissMicros took my favorite calculator and made it to be perfect. I say that because it is the complete modernization of my beloved HP-41C. On this website I started reading the forums and found folks like me who loved the 41C but now believe the DM42 is a better machine. So I bought my first DM42. I have had it a couple of weeks and have ordered another DM42. Wow, what impressive machines. I'm expecting my second DM42 next week. When I worked as a field Engineer for my local electric utility, I carried the HP-41CV on my hip every day. I have a hard leather case. I carried it so much that the keys wore down from rubbing on the case. The keys wore down so much that lost the their shape. Than's when I found that the keys were molded with the white labels imbedded in the key. Worn down key but still perfectly readable. The HP-41CV developed a problem and when I returned it to HP for service, HP also replaced the keys. That's how much I loved my 41CV. Now, I'm going to have to admit that I like my DM42 best. My HP-41CV was the Cadillac of calculators. You folks at SwissMicros have given us the Rolls Royce of calculators. My sincerest congratulations to you and my sincerest thanks for producing such a wonderful modern product. As an aside, I did find the battery pac on Ebay for the 45 and yes, it still works.

Sincerely, Terry Miller

So I wanted to purchase an HP RPN of course. Only to discover that they didn't make any of the series I loved and what seemed to be the closest to it was the HP 35S. So I bought one and immediately disliked it, although it worked but ... I found it to be clumsy, with a bad contrast display, well I disliked it much and started dreaming about a good 'ole HP 15C.
Just because you don't like something for some reason doesn't mean it's an unsuitable product. Instead of annoying yourself unnecessarily about the display, you should have read the operating instructions, as it is explicitly explained how to adjust the contrast!

Maybe it's time for an AZ meetup group, COVID-permitting. I'm down in the valley, myself. :)

I wanted a HP-16c but was having a hard time justifying the price for a 30+ year
old calculator without a warranty and probably no way to get it fixed if it failed.

A little searching led me to SwissMicros. The price was right, plus it was new with a warranty.

When I received it I was pleased with the quality so I ordered a 15L as well.

I first saw them in HPCC presentations on YouTube and just recently ordered both the DM42 and the DM41X. As someone new to this board, I don't have a clue what the May announcement is about, but I am pleased with the DM42 and DM41X and will "stay tuned."

I'm pretty-sure I first learned of SwissMicros looking at hpmuseum.org, probably in the last 12 months or so. I currently use an HP-32SII purchased new circa 1994, and also have an HP 35s. Upon seeing the DM42, it took some time for me to realize I needed one (ordered 11 Jan '21).
