  1. For an accurate documentation it is essential that you can make a binding note of the individual keystrokes. Personally, however, I find this complete documentation sometimes annoying when reading. It is important to me in which menu I find the functionality, whereby this should also be obvious. So that 'c' is in the menu CNST should be noted somehow. The fact that you can find CNST under the Shift [g] helps when reading, but I still have to search all keys. Well, then there's the possibility to write [g][RCL], this finally confuses me, then I'm gone.
  2. Using color in the documentation on the screen and in printing should be presumed today.
  3. An indication whether and which Shift key is active is of course essential.
  4. Question about the menus, I don't have a simulator at hand. Is the line that is currently active (underlined, bold, inverse, etc.) marked when opening the menu (except for the index [],[f] or [g])? Can I alternatively use the cursor keys to highlight the currently active line? Is the index then automatically updated?
(numbers added by me)

A question and some remarks about these points:
  1. What do you want to tell us here at the bottom line?
  2. I presume there should be a comma after documentation. If true then: Color is abundant in the documentation; it won't happen on the calculator screen for reasons explained by Keith et al. above.
  3. I concur.
  4. Please get a simulator. How to get it is explained above. You will easily find your questions answered then.

  1. Personally, the notation CNST 'c' helps me to find the function. You can expect me to find the position of the menu item CNST under [g][RCL] myself. That's why writing out the Shift key in a documentation doesn't have the highest importance for me. But maybe I am the exception.
  2. Sorry, my English and so on... Of course I mean the PDF documentation offline in a viewer (PC or Smartphone) or then printed. Of course not as help on the WP43S itself.
  3. -
  4. I'll find the simulator.

    Hello everyone,
I joined the wp43s development team and ported the simulator to MacOS as my first contribution.
The code is: https://gitlab.com/Over_score/wp43s, to compile under MacOS the following tools and libs must be installed:

    1. Xcode from apple App Store
    2. GCC and GTK with MacPort or using any other tool.

    regards
    john

Windows Simulator doesn't work for me, but the DM42 version does.

To answer my questions:
  1. No.
  2. Of course there are more than 18 constants  , the cursor keys are used to reach the next 18 constants. Therefore you cannot select the line with the cursor keys.
  3. Obsolete

Windows Simulator doesn't work for me
I also had troubles to run the Windows Simulator after following the instructions (installing GTK3 Runtime, the font and downloading the different files from github).
I solved them by copying the libpng16-16.dll and zlib1.dll files from C:\Program Files\GTK3-Runtime Win64\bin to the local directory where I have stored wp43s.exe.

Tank you very much, the Windows Simulator works now!

I had similar trouble getting the emulator to work. I originally did this, on Win7-x64:

1. Downloaded wp43s.exe, dm42l.png, dm42lshort.png and wp43s_pre.css from the gitlab site, moved into a new folder
2. Installed the WP43S_StandardFont.ttf font file & confirmed it is installed properly
3. Installed GTK3 runtime; accepted defaults of the setup program
4. Confirmed GTK3 \bin folder is indeed in my path
5. Copied zlib1.dll and libpng16-16.dll from \bin folder to install folder as Didier suggested

Initially this did not work, I was getting many .dll files missing errors, but removing and reinstalling everything has corrected the problem and now the emulator is running fine.

The perhaps only remaining concern might also be typographical, that these arrows don't seem to be easily represented in HTML (so that the community can contribute docs and examples), e,g, like HTML entities. The f and g do, of course.
I stand corrected by myself! I must do homework more often!

Anyway, I just found the ↰ and ↱ HTML entities, seemingly even abbreviations for "left shift" and "right shift".

I did check the manuals I had downloaded previously (v11) but did not know that v12 was available, thanks for the tip Walter.

I see this update has added details on installing it via Cygwin. That's usefull for developing and rebuilding, but i don't need all that overhead taking up space on my system, the above approach does work and installs only the minimum run-time needed to run the emulator.

For folks wanting to install the Cygwin environment, you can find it here:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw- ... 32-bit%29/

Please give an hexadecimal unicode character code - I can't find any character looking like HP's shift arrows there so far. Thanks in advance.
