Spoiler: Next release is going to include state files, thanks to Didier.

Both the simulator and the calculator run smoothly. We're still trying, however, to benefit from state files for solving a little challenge being discovered almost two weeks ago. The release will be ... released when this is done, I think.
Exciting news, I can't wait to see it.
Many thanks to the team!

Today, 2023-05-06, we offer you release 0.23.12 , here https://gitlab.com/rpncalculators/wp43/-/releases (thanks to Mihail, Didier, and Jaco!).
  1. Added state files: You can save your calculator state (programs, register and variable contents, user and system flags) as is in a named file on FAT disk, do something completely different then, and recall any of your saved state files later for resuming your respective work. It works almost like a backup but we support many state files while there will be only one backup always. Thanks to Didier!
  2. Improved histogram zooms: they zoom just x now, no more y (thanks to Jaco!).
  3. Improved handling of undefined variables (thanks to Mihail!).
  4. Fixed an issue in INPUT (thanks to Mihail!).
  5. Fixed some issues under the hood (thanks to Didier and Mihail!).
  6. Refined the entries of SOLVE and  ∫ in the IOI.
  7. Updated both manuals. Please see their Release Notes and the red bars marking modified or new paragraphs.
Included in the release package is everything you may want to try, test, and check WP43 on your computer or your DM42. Please look into the WP43 Reference Manual, App. E and F for how to do this.

Enjoy!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask early. And if you discover anything suboptimal, please report. We can just improve what we know. There are certainly some issues - who finds one unknown yet will get 1 test point.

Side note: This is reply #2001 in this long thread. Let's devote it to Stanley Kubrick and remember his masterpiece!

Another great release, thank you all!

The firmware file for DM42 (wp43-dmcp-0.23.12.zip) does contain two folders, wp43-dmcp, and wp43-dmcp-0.23.12.
wp43-dmcp maybe contains an older release (as of 2023-04-17) and could be omitted/ ignored.

Thanks for reporting! We've raised an issue in GitLab for this.

Since we were asked for, we've set up a little piggy bank (cochon tirelire, hucha, porquinho-mealheiro, säästöpossu, salvadanaio, spaarvarken, spar(e)gris, Sparschweinchen, ...) for our project.

You find it at the end of our README.md file here. Oiiiik!

Thanks in advance, hartstikke bedankt, mange tak(k), merci bien, mille grazie, muchas gracias, muito obrigado, suurkiitokset, tack så mycket, vielen Dank!

Is the WP43 FW for the DM42 stable enough to be a "daily driver" for common tasks? I probably don't need 90% of the capabilities of the device, but I am very intrigued by the concept.

I have been playing with the emulator on windows and I like it, but those operator keys on the left will take some getting used to ;) .

I'm considering buying a DM42 and making a template (I have a Cricut machine and have made several other templates for some of the newRPL calculator variants (39GS, 50g, and Prime G1), along with for the WP34S and WP31S so that won't be an obstacle)...
WP31S/WP34S (HP 30b), WP43/C47 (DM42), newRPL (various), and DB48X (DM42) adhesive and tabbed overlays available here:

Yes, it is. Good ol' standard math (integers, reals, complex numbers, matrices, times, and dates) is functional for many months without any complaints AFAICS. Even the members of ADV should do what they are made for, but there is some space for improvement still. Feel free to reflash a DM42 and crunch numbers and/or write programs, test and check, and please report your experiences and observations. Enjoy!
