Re: 43S News
I thought you prefer not to use the obelus as the division symbol to be in line with ISO 80000-2.
Also, the blue and gold shift keys have the K and L when in alpha mode.

Manuel.

Re: 43S News
You're absolutely right. Thanks for your heads up.

Re: 43S News
Some more things:
1. The letters K and L are double (yellow/blue prefix and x<>y/ +/-). So there is no reason to put K and L on the prefix buttons.
2. The 7 button does not have a yellow and blue notation and the 8 button does not have a yellow notation. So there is room to move the snap and user function to another place.

Re: 43S News
Yes in principle but issue 1. was reported by ManuMa already; and if you (2.) move SNAP and USER to shifted [7] or [8] then I'm afraid they won't work in alpha input mode.rawi wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 8:59 pmSome more things:

Re: 43S News
Houston, we've got a problem.
Imagine the keyboard of the 43S looking almost as it should - except the division symbol prefers one half of the world over the other. No, we didn't place a colon (:) on it (how dare we!), however, the neutral solidus (/) is replaced by an obelus (÷) (how dare they! But they are ignorant about the damage they caused).
For our friends who never left their mathematical realm so far: do not believe in what the English Wikipedia tries to tell you; please note there's about an equal share of : and ÷ on this planet used for division. This caused me choosing / for the division key years ago, complying to ISO 80000-2 which states clearly: "The symbol ÷ should not be used" - but not frightening you who may never have seen a division : so far. We won't do such stuff. End of lesson.
Now and as usual, most bad things on this planet do not happen on purpose but in ignorance. I hope that many of my fellow members will comprehend my reasons for placing a / (although this forum communicates in English). I'm considering stopping this project if there will be no correction.

Re: 43S News
I must be in the fringes as the symbol for division does not matter to me.
As long as I understand what it does. I am fine.
So what is that .0001%?

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater! Don't cut off your nose to spite your face! I hope these common American sayings don't lose something in translation. Why stop the project just because there are complainers? No matter what you do, even if you put both symbols on the keyboard, someone would complain! You just can't please everyone. If you try too hard, you'll end up pleasing no one.
"You see, you can't please everyone So you got to please yourself" - Ricky Nelson in the song Garden Party.
Issue a fiat! (or a Ferrari or Lamborghini?) I, for one, will use whichever symbol you decide on.
Decide for yourself and let the chips fall where they may.

Re: 43S News
I actually quite like this, quite pleasing to look at. Good work! Get all the way there, and every taker should be a happy camper.
I believe in free will. Just can't help it.

Naaaaaah. Not such a big problem. No need to stop anything.
I actually almost thought when I saw the image that we are getting the obelus (!) but then I knew it must have been a mistake because Walter has stated his ISO and language prefs before in various discussions on this forum.
I would say toml, I’d be one to complain if they do as you say and put both on. And I agree H2X, it looks a lot prettier, especially without the yellow and blue bathtubs around the shift keys. I also liked the white lettering’s fonts more, or maybe it was rather the fact that the different fonts more resemble the classical look, but I also assumed (as with the obelus) that the apparent glaring differences were due to the template used - the image seemed more like a simulation layout and not like the (realistic) latest WP43S simulator look.
In the end, until it is in our hands, this forum can (and will) try to influence it. If we have our designs public, we have to accept comments attempting to change it, like these. Historically, we only saw upon release what the HP keyboard layouts looked like. Once it is in our hands though, the die is cast and comments cannot change the outcome anymore, and comments become criticisms only.
