Re: 43S News

I just spent a half hour typing a lengthy reply to this topic, only to have the forum somehow lose it so I won't waste my time repeating everything here again.

Summary: I have tested the emulator and like the matrix operations. I would like to see the addition of an eigenvector function that can solve the problem A X = λ B X. There is an inconsistency between the manuals and emulator keyboard, namely MATX on emulator an MTX in manuals.

Thanks for your nice words. We may think about the eigenvector problem you sketched.

Yes, MATX was renamed to MTX with 0.22.2. The simulator surface isn't changed yet accordingly, will be very soon.

Yes, going forward I will do exactly that.

This normally happens, if you spend more time writing your post, than the board "Session timeout" setting. Administrator of the board could set this value to 3600 seconds (one hour) - I have done that on my phpBB forums.
Most often in this case, you can salvage your post by navigating back a few times in your browser.
But to be safe, write long posts in a text editor first, as suggested above.

It might also be a good idea, to update this forum from phpBB version 3.2.10 to the latest, version 3.3.5.
3.2.x "Rhea" is based on a core from 2016, where as 3.3.x "Proteus" is from early 2020.

Meanwhile, it's all in but 15 functions (plus 15 print operations which aren't really urgent IMO). So you can really try and test a lot if you want to, incl. programming etc. ...

After a little bit of renaming, compacting labels, the surface looks like this now (as Jaymos published already to some extent):

(Oh and BTW, we have the colours of Ukraine displayed since the very beginning of this project. SCNR.)

I like the vertical blue labels in line for FLAGS, SF & CF.

I like the compacted FLAG and PART.

We did it again, we changed the bezel! Why? To improve grouping:

You see α.FN moved to α, CPX went next to |x| and arg, and STK resides on top of x<->y now.

Today, 22.03.2022, we offer you release 0.22.3 here https://gitlab.com/Over_score/wp43s/-/releases.
  • Measurement system analysis was refined so also the errors of the orthogonal fit line are direct output.
  • Menu stack will contain four entries, then return to MyMenu or Myα, whatever applies.
Both manuals were updated accordingly. And while removing bugs, we made also many improvements and refinements under the hood. Thanks to Mihail and Jaco!

Included in the release package is everything you may want to try, test, and check the 43S on your computer or your DM42. Please look into the Reference Manual, App. E and F for how to do this. Find in said manual also which (few) functions don't work yet (just 20 out of some 800).

Enjoy!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask early. And if you discover anything suboptimal, please report. There are certainly some issues - who finds one unknown yet will get 8 test points.

I just updated the emulator to the latest version, and when I start the program memory is cleared with the message "Cannot restore calc's memory from file backup.bin! File backup.bin is from another backup version." Is there some way to work around this so I don't lose everything in memory each time I update the version ?
