I'd like to know why, given I have no need for mils, I still felt an overwhelming urge to upgrade, and did? :)

You did want to be up to date (a.k.a. at the state of the art), didn't you? ;)

I just received my prototype SN00025 yesterday (17 March) Thanks, Walter!
I do have a couple questions, though. Even though I have the time set to 12-hour format, the time shown in the heading is always in 24-hour format.
Is this the way it's supposed to be? I know it's a small thing but I was curious.

Also, is there any progress on I/R printing?

Hi Tom,
How did you set the time to 12-hour format? If it’s in the DMCP settings this is not reflected on the WP43 status bar. On the WP43 this is done by clearing the system flag TDM24.
You can also set the different localisation settings for USA with g DISP up and then pressing the USA soft key.
Btw I would recommend to install the latest firmware revision (0.23.9) if not done already.

No progress yet on I/R printing.

I had been using DMCP to set the 12-hour format. Thanks for the tip.
The very first thing I did was to update to 0.23.9. Good stuff!

WP43 is designed to be an independent firmware package based on the DMCP as is. We need the DMCP menu for basic control of the calculator HW, i.e. the items 2, 3, 4*, and 6** of said menu, but that's it. Everything else is contained in WP43 (or should be, at least ;) ).

* sometimes.
** Didier made the activation of the USB disk directly accessible from WP43 via f-shifted [7] recently - no reset of WP43 this way. :D

Edited for clarity.

Today, 2023-03-25, we offer you release 0.23.10 here https://gitlab.com/rpncalculators/wp43/-/releases (thanks to Mihail and Didier!).
  • There are immediate 1-keystroke conversions ->BIN, ->OCT, ->DEC, and ->HEX featured now in INTS.
  • Short integer input is now formatted according to the base chosen.
  • Some internal contradictions in the manuals were ironed out (global label search, VARMNU).
  • The ReM has been completely revised.
Included in the release package is everything you may want to try, test, and check the WP43 on your computer or your DM42. Please look into the ReM, App. E and F for how to do this.

Enjoy!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask early. And if you discover anything suboptimal, please report. There are certainly some issues - who finds one unknown yet will get 1 new test point.

Should we have to press Enter to get the INTS menu to come up?
If I type

67
INTS

nothing happens.

If I type

67
Enter
INTS

the INTS menu comes up. This is not consistent with the EXP or TRI menus since they copy the input number to X and bring up the menu without having to press Enter.
