Should be same issue: this happens too when accessing the "Constant" menu ( g 3 or blue CONST)
DM42 : SN 0045 HP Prime HP67 HP33E
Re: 43S News
It is the same.

Re: 43S News
When I run a very simple looping program on the latest WP43 simulator, I noticed a "P" displayed in the Status Bar Indicator area. In RM version 0.22.9/0.23 this is not described on pages 96-100. What is the meaning of this SBI? For a non-looping program, the expected hour glass is displayed. Also I have seen an exclamation mark in the status line, but I cannot reproduce this on the simulator. Please clarify.

Re: 43S News
The "P" is indicating a program running (cf. p. 82 of the OM). Pp. 80 - 82 explain all status bar indicators you may see (I don't quite get what you notice on pp. 96 - 100 in this matter ).RJvM wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 10:24 pmWhen I run a very simple looping program on the latest WP43 simulator, I noticed a "P" displayed in the Status Bar Indicator area. Thank you, must be too long ago I read that OM Section, being immersed in the RM these days. It is very clear now.

Re: 43S News
Since some people keep complaining that they don't see the TRIgonometric functions SIN, COS, TAN, and their inverses immediately on our keyboard, I recommend looking at page B-1 of the Reference Manual. You'll find some reasoning why the WP43S keyboard shows the functions it does. As mentioned more than once for some years: feel free to propose a better layout granting faster access to the key functions (for sake of clarity: layout := a complete ... ummh ... layout for the entire keyboard). Looking forward to your contributions.
No drama if you don't succeed: you can reassign almost all locations on our keyboard to your personal liking - please see Section 6 of the Owner's Manual. Then in user mode, with your assigments popping up, it will be like in democracy: you'll get what you deserve. I sign off wishing you good luck.

Re: 43S News
this is what i get for neglecting reading the forum for so long--a whole new calculator i might be able to load into my 42 if i'm reading correctly. i found the github and downloaded the windows simulator and will try that out using parallels. i got distracted by some notices of a 32s coming. alas, still no sign of any with an algebraic option though.
188 pages in this thread and i guess i'll be back in 2-3 days after reading through them and then possibly attempt to load this into my 42 although i'll have to relearn it as well. too many gadgets, not enough time.

Re: 43S News
The WP43 can be loaded on the DM42. It's a bit of work to use because the keyboard layout is very different from the DM42. A physical calculator is (hopefully) not that far off, but in the meantime the simulator should give a good idea of what to expect.
The simulator does work on macOS, but it requires knowing the command line reasonably well to build. If you are able to do this then there are instructions on the GitLab Wiki. Otherwise the Windows simulator works fine in Parallels (that's how I test the Windows build).
Re: 43S News
It still feels weird not to have sin/cos/tan up front, as we've pretty much consistently had on calculators since we've had LCD screens, as the 67/29/34 pushed them off for the various shifts and function keys, then they're been right there for everything from the 41 onwards. This is where the extra row of keys on a 48 made such a big difference.
I see a good argument for most of the others, but i honestly think that the workflow of working with trig functions, when you're working through anything geometrical or phasor based where those calculations happen over and over again, it just seems to make more sense for them to be there. Per B-7, I'd have probably pushed those three to come onto keys, or at least very permanent labels, probably moving e^x to a shifted key, found another permanent home for Y^x and then buried the exp not on a primary key.

Fortunately, there is a simple solution to this and other problems with the WP43 keyboard layout:packrat wrote: ↑Sun Oct 09, 2022 2:22 pmIt still feels weird not to have sin/cos/tan up front, as we've pretty much consistently had on calculators since we've had LCD screens, as the 67/29/34 pushed them off for the various shifts and function keys, then they're been right there for everything from the 41 onwards.
