Re: Custom costs when ordering a calculator
ok
you are right 2022 instead of 22 is more clear
For a planning deadline i like also to use the Calendar Week notation ie : CW2215
=> whoever from China, Japan, USA, Europe, India can understand it without any issue
I saw a problem in the past with some prototypes being produced in Germany for a plant in the US that provided their deadline using their own date system that was taken as the European date system by the prototype guys .... as a result 3 months late for a critical project....
=> Better to use ISO dates that are clearer !

Re: Custom costs when ordering a calculator
Hello,
Got my DM-15L from Netherlands today.
In mint cosmetic condition and working order.
However I had to pay 13€ custom fees because the sender lives in Switzerland : It doesn't matter but this may not motivate me to buy 2 DM-41Xs.

Re: Custom costs when ordering a calculator
That's not too much, considering. I recently had to pay more than 27€ for 2 small books from UK for a total worth of 40€. Normally I should only have paid a small handling fee like you but they managed to find a VAT, which isn't correct.
Customs are just plain thieves and there's nothing one can do; I consider myself happy when the package has not been opened and tampered with, which is not always the case. I've had damaged items a few times, and never could get any compensation, of course.

Re: Custom costs when ordering a calculator
SwissMicros ships from NL?
Re: Custom costs when ordering a calculator
Hello,
It's just a few euros.
The extra cost is still worth it.
I am very satisfied with my DM-15L.
Thus I spare my real HP-15C.
Yes from NL.
Greetings.

Re: Custom costs when ordering a calculator
Apart from shipping costs there is no variation to the prices in the SM store. So I assume they do not charge you for customs and just ship it.
It then comes down to whether a calculator just slips through customs or gets formally treated.
Of four calcs to Austria so far three seem to have slipped by the customs processing but one was only handed over by the post office upon payment of roughly 15€.
Personally I worry more about whether they are now formally CE-compliant? Because if they are not they might also just be refused entry because they do not conform to EU standards. I remember that this had already been a topic some time ago.
Re: Custom costs when ordering a calculator
Based on my personal experience with CE, I'd be extremely surprised if SM had achieved true CE compliance. OTOH, printing CE labels on non-qualified devices may become very expensive. CAVEAT FABRICATOR!

Re: Custom costs when ordering a calculator
This was me, my device was send back to SM by customs in my town (Wiesbaden).
I have more than 20 years experience with ordering abroad and had some similar experiences with this customs bureau. They are accurate in following the rules and I don't blame them for that.
Sorry for me and for SM, if they were CE compliant I would order 2 DM42s immediately!
