Try https://people.engr.ncsu.edu/jwilson/fi ... hsigns.pdf it's 2009.
When working with standards you should use the latest version, not an old one.
For example, I’ve found in a preview of the 2019 version that:
Les opérateurs binaires, par exemple +, −, /, doivent être précédés et suivis d’un petit espace.
Which translates to "Binary operators, for example +, -, /, must be preceded and followed by a thin space."

I don’t know if this is also in the latest officially published version of ISO-80000-2 (and I will not pay CHF 158 to know), but if it’s the case, then if the 43S was fully ISO-80000-2 compliant there would be no issue with slash being used in a variable name.

  1. Correct.
  2. This is not new. But users were (are?) not willing to key in this extra space (please see posts above).
BTW, noone ever claimed the 43S being 'fully ISO-80000-2 compliant', we just implemented some major ISO 80000-2 requirements in a pocket calculator for the first time AFAWK.

Addendum: You can read here that the edition of 2019 is the latest.

Regarding that other character that must not be named here, please look up ISO 80000-2:
The symbol ÷ should not be used.
Sorry, but ISO is asking me to pay CHF 158 to access this document, CHF 158 (~151€ or $171) for 36 pages !!!
No surprise if most calculators still use the obelus…
Or you can have the first edition free:

Hmmh, variable names are a topic like car colours: everyone feels having a voice in that chapter. How about some more calculatory or mathematical issues? Or some traps in the UI? Almost the entire functionality is available now except integrating, differentiating, and programming.

I refuse to believe that the entire community is just laid down digesting early Christmas cookies. There can be expected some low voltage pulses in some brains still, can't they?

Come on, there are 18 points winnable per bug you discover. Hardly believable there are none. Good luck hunting!

Seems the overwhelming majority of forum members resides and relaxes in the land of milk and honey. Alas, that's not the way this will work. There's no free lunch here. If you want to get the ultimate RPN pocket calculator, get up and test, please!

I would love to test the 43S...

Can someone either point me to- or create a "single point of entry" thread, that shows or links to how one can install a 43S on a PC (mac/win/linux) or even better, on a DM42.

I have searched this forum, but I cannot find this information. I vaguely recall, that I stumbled uppon this in one of the 100+ pages 43S/C sagas, but I cant seem to find it again.

Glad to point you to App. F of the Reference Manual. There's 1 page (p. 199) describing How to Create Your WP 43S by Flashing a DM42.

On the other hand, App. E presents how to simulate a 43S on your PC (p. 196).

Here's a link to said manual: https://gitlab.com/Over_score/wp43s/-/releases

This could be a bug.
Just first time, loaded wp43S to dm42.
Playing around to get familiar..

pressed [f] I/O or 0 Key
Select LOAD in the top menu -> Hard fault
Well nothing to load I am guessing but error catch should have directed me to some illegal ops message or better yet requiring to load a pgm right?

Thanks, BK42, this is a bug. 18 points for you!

On the simulator, the proper error message is thrown but there are side effects. Anyway, this bug has to be removed.
