I have no issues with Big Sur & DM42 and the cable I mentioned 5 postings above. With other cables with shorter plug and less secure fit I had disconnects and hence FAT trouble on Mac and Windows.

I'm investigating here, if the issues are with Big Sur or also with Parallels (to run Windows and Linux Virtual machine) that handles usb or other type.
Curiously, two times the FAT corruption was accessing the /State folder.

I bought this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013C ... UTF8&psc=1

It has an extra long tip.
Thanks for the "tip" on the extra long tip! :)
I just bought one and it works very well!

Most stuff sold on Amazon is already out of spec, so why not offer some funky USB connectors, ha ha.

The USB connector can be slightly modified, you can cut off 2-3 mm of insulation.

Ah, so it seems to be the same design problem in the DM15L, the DM42 and the DM41.
It's indeed possible to cut out a part of the plastic on some connectors, I was lucky to find one for the DM15L. It's close, not perfect but OK enough when one does not use it too often.
