buttons that don't register well

Post by tgray »

My 2 button misses a few presses now and then, particularly if I don't hit it just right or if I am doing multiple quick entries. I know others have had issues with other buttons.

Is this something that gets better with time and usage, or should I be popping the calculator open to do some cleaning?

I'm not sure how fast this could get better on it's own.
If you're comfortable with the following procedure, this will help:
  • open the calculator
  • open the latch of the LCD connector and release the LCD flex ribbon
  • unscrew the two inner screws and remove the electronic board
  • lift up the foil partially and clean the contact area and the metal domes of the affected buttons. Use alcohol, acetone or nail polish remover
  • assemble the calculator and test it

Please, not use aceton!
I've tried acetone, it's no problem at all.

I do not use acetone, preferably as a Teilereiniger (part-cleaner??).
@gruensucher: grrr gleichfalls! Woher soll ich wissen, was du hier meinst, wenn ich nur lesen kann, was du schreibst? :? Irgendwie widerspricht das dem, was du um 20:29 Uhr geschrieben hast. Oh, die Welt ist voller Rätsel! ;)

Trying to find out what was really meant by gruensucher. Most probably not what he wrote.
