Can someone tell me what all I will lose if I do a reset? Will I lose the current firmware version, same question if I reformat the FAT drive?
Thank you for any assistance that you may provide
Thank You,
Nick

Re: Help With a reset question
With RESET, you will lose everything in RAM, nothing in flash memory. So the firmware will stay unchanged.
WP43 SN00000, 34S, and 31S for obvious reasons; HP-35, 45, ..., 35S, 15CE, DM16L S/N# 00093, DM42β SN:00041

Thank you Walter for this information, I appreciate your very prompt response - does this also mean that I will lose all of my saved “States”?

Re: Help With a reset question
And if you format the FAT drive, you’ll loose you state files if any, the programs you might have saved and of course the off images. So when you turn it off, you’ll only have a blank screen.

Re: Help With a reset question
OK - so I Formatted the Fat Drive, and I did a Reset, only two folders show up now on the DM42, PROGRAMS and State, no other folders are present, how do I get these back, the one for screen shots and the OFF Images. I tried setting up a New Folder on the DM42 while it was connected to my computer and I placed the images I wanted into that folder, however, they did not show up, only the default sleeping owl shows up.
What do I do now?

Re: Help With a reset question
These are the folders that should be there:
/HELP (create this)
/OFFIMG (create this)
/PROGRAMS (automatically created)
/SCREENS (automatically created, when you save your initial screen shot)
/STATE (automatically created)
You should use the same (all UPPER) case as shown, and do *not* include the preceeding"/"
You will have to create the HELP and OFFIMG folders manually from your PC, and they must be spelled that way.
You can find the latest help file here:

Right click the link above and choose (Save As... Save Link as... or something similar) to save the file to your PC and then copy it to the /HELP folder.

Re: Help With a reset question
IMHO these should all be automatically created when you format the Flash.

Agree. A plan to do so actually precedes this report, a nice coincidence. Consider however that when a user formats the FAT from the PC side things are less predictable, so deciding exactly when to do this takes some careful thought... but folks are busy thinking...

It is completely predictable:
1) when the user format the flash with the built-in menu
2) when the computer unmount the drive, a check could be done and the folders created if missing
