Upgraded keypad
Re: Upgraded keypad
As far as I understand this is only for non registering keys and not for obtaining the new clicky keyboard feel.

Here is the video explaining how to replace the foil:

We should get them in a few weeks.
They finally replaced the domes with more clicky ones to reduce this problem on new models and on the DM41X, or at least that's how I understand it. Let's hope it's not too uncomfortable but we'll see, it's better than an unreliable keypad.

Isn't that the same? Older keys were not registering or were registering twice. There were a few attempts to fix the problem on the DM42 but they were not satisfactory.

Thanks!
What a nice surprise.
I just placed an order to replace the domes of my old DM42 and my DM41X beta.
The icing on the cake, after seeing the video it seems to be super easy to do the replacement.

Re: Upgraded keypad
The video was really nice and comforting.
On my 42 its not that keys don't register but the amount of force required - pretty stiff. The 41x is much better (circa 2021). If one of our kind users reports that this is the "fix" my order will be placed as well.

Re: Upgraded keypad
That's it, it's all good. I changed the domes on my DM41X. They are as I expected. A much smoother and more even pressure.
I ordered the new ones on Wednesday and today Saturday I received the new ones. Thanks to SwissMicros and Swiss Post.

Re: Upgraded keypad
So far I have no questionable touches.
But I think you have to clean the contact pads well.

Exactly right. As seen in the video, very thorough cleaning of the pad surface is essential for good results.PierreMengisen wrote: ↑Sun Sep 04, 2022 8:01 pmSo far I have no questionable touches.
