Can't tell for sure yet, but it's probably going to be something like replacing the foil and domes, so nothing too involved. No soldering in any case.

The confusion can be avoided if we understand that they are actually looking at the problem, to see which solution is the most appropriate. ;)

I suppose you're either busy or on holiday. Is there an idea of when you can come back to us about this solution?

Hum. I first contacted SwissMicros Aug 5th, and I'm still waiting for any reply regarding this problem, even though it's under guarantee. This thread gave me hope but apparently Emy's not giving any sign of life so I suppose it's dead.

I've sent another email to both support@swissmicros.com and michael@swissmicros.com 2 days ago, let's see if I have more chance but I'm starting to think it's hopeless. I was toying with the idea of buying a DM41X and/or maybe a WP43S (if the plan to make one succeeds) but I must say this is giving me second thoughts.

Did you get any answer on your side?

FYI - Any DM42 that was purchased since early 2020 has the same keyboard design/parts as the 41X; if that's the case there is no need for alternate parts, they would only be the same. But I'm sure Emy will be getting back to you, everyone is a bit swamped due the (odd to an American) phenomenon of just about all of EU taking vacation at the same time.

Europeans are on vacation eleven months of the year, and work for about one month each year.

@hpmike As an European I'll take that as an insult from someone who has obviously never worked with Europeans. Please stop trolling.

I've already mentioned it was bought before.

I see them posting elsewhere so they're not on vacation. I'm not sure where you got the notion we were all on vacation at the same time but it's simply not true, not more so than everywhere else. Many are because kids are on holiday this period of the year, but there are other "opportunity windows" in winter and spring. In any case, companies usually have a backup not to let customers down for several weeks.
