I got my first DM42 early September 2020, the second in October. Both feel the same, with a pronounced click and more force required to press the buttons than on my (even younger) DM15L. However, every click is registered (unlike the DM15L, where the softer click can be heard but shows no effect unless you press strong enough).

Short question: Will I benefit from the new keypads, i.e, get a softer but still reliable key action?

That's great news ! They must have gone back to using SwissPost instead of BelgiumPost, which took a month to arrive.

The answer below the youtube video sais its not for improving the tactile feeling. I think I order one for my DM41 beta, it has some keys you have to press really hard to register.
I know, that's my concern. I think the new domes make the keyboard noisier with very audible click sounds (possibly stiffer to the touch too but I'm not sure). But I'd rather have that than a silent but unusable calculator.

Got it today ! 3 days between order and receiving the foil in France.
Domes replaced, indeed the keys are feeling different, a bit stiffer, but they all register well, each and every time as it should, no miss key for now - I am very happy of the result - ymmv.
5 years after purchasing this great calculator (now running C43), this is nice to be offered a refit. Thumbs up, Swissmicros!
The replacement is a piece of cake, as shown in the video

By the way, the foil comes as a slightly different package compare to the video (with punched holes on the top and bottom of the protective sheet, no whitish sheet on the back to peel off...)
You must not peel off the very thin transparent sheet on the back side of the domes, but you must peel off the thicker foil with domes itself, from the front (with the front side of the domes in front of you), leaving behind both the wider punched sheet and the back thinner sheet still attached together
Hope that I am clear enough and that can help.

These are the old domes I put back on the foil I received, but a picture is worth a thousand words...

My two domepads were exactly as those pictured in the video.
The 41X and 42 betas are now upgraded.

I just replaced the dome sheet on my 1st-batch 2017 DM42. It feels terrific now! The keys are almost totally silent, and have a soft but very definite tactile response. It actually feels very similar to some of the Pioneers I own, just with shorter throw. I think I might even switch back to this one over my "new-and-improved keys" model.
