Yes, Geoff, there are slits on the left and right side. Please see the draft 43S Reference Manual for a drawing of the generic overlay, fully specified. 8-)

And here is a complete example planned for WP43S. It can be modified at will using the GIMP software.

XCF is GIMP file native format.
XCF stands for eXperimental Computing Facility (at the University of California at Berkeley)
XCF files support saving layers, channels, transparency, paths and guides.

Thanks. Sounds versatile, but complex. Useful I suppose if you're living in GIMP, but how well is supported in other products?

Hopefully UCB has licensed it for free use to avoid issues like .jpg... Answers are surely in the Wiki article, I'll take a look.

How well is DWG supported outside AutoCad?
How well is PSD supported outside PhotoShop?

Since GIMP is free, you could always get GIMP, load the xcf file and save it to your favorite format.

Here's a blank overlay in dxf and svg formats, for those of you who have access to somebody with a laser or Cricut machine. There are no tabs, as the tab slots on my DM41X are not large enough to allow card to be inserted. The overlay is an exact fit if cut with a knife-cutting machine. If cut with a laser (my original intention), the laser kerf gives a slight clearance around the keys.

Ideally, I'd like to incorporate the svg into a DM4n version of http://hp.meshuggeneh.net/.

An overlay without tabs is of limited use IMHO.
