I rest my case.Walter wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 5:11 pmRecommended since the odds are frightening high you'll find out that HPMike started becoming personal in this thread. Try to discuss soberly with a Texan about English... BTW and FWIW, English is my 3rd language.HPMike wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 4:29 pmNo, it is not. But 48GX was just responding sarcastically to an equally irrelevant attack on him/her and Americans in general for making an innocent typographical error when referencing the abbreviation for the Swiss currency. If you are interested in further understanding what has prompted this exchange, go back a few pages and read the posts by Walter that started all this nonsense. Oh, and BTW, English is not my first language, although I am currently a US citizen and live in the USA.rawi wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 7:43 amIs this relevant for a forum like this? Can the "n" be a source of misunderstanding? I do not think so. We must realize that the English language used here is, for some people, the language they grew up with; for others (including me), it was learned later with different success. To have fair participation of all interested in the topic of this forum, regardless of their first language, we should be tolerant of mistakes in grammar and spelling.

Re: Upgraded keypad
EVERYONE - Please drop all the personal attacks, insinuations, etc. and get back to talking about calculators and directly related topics.
It is very unpleasant and non-productive to have to put people on vacation from the Forum, but this may be the end result if this petty bickering continues. No one likes it and it only serves to annoy everyone else.
Walter - Please cooperate
Mike - Please cooperate
Others - Please don't fan the flames.
And now, hopefully, back to regularly scheduled calculator geek topics...

Thanks Bob. Indeed, 2-3 posts were fun, but this is becoming a little childish.
I encourage the use of the ignore feature for a little while if someone irritates you. It's a great tool to avoid the temptation of replying. See the User Control Panel / Friends & Foes tab.
To get back on topic:
Does anyone know if the keyboard of the DM32 is exactly the same as the DM42/41X with the new domes? Or is it something new?

Re: Upgraded keypad
I finally got the new domes and I've just installed them.
Relatively good news, this new set of domes are a big improvement over the 2 previous attempts!
It's not perfect. It's much noisier now for most of the keys, and the feel of the keys still vary depending on the position; for example one could tell from a distance whether I click on the bottom right '+' (which is much clicky and audible than all the others) or the top F keys that are quite discrete and less clicky. But overall they all give a good feedback now, the calculator just has this artisanal feel to it, but it's not a huge problem.
I think it must be related to the random placement of the domes relatively to the key pins that push on them (in SM's video you can see that they're not perfectly aligned with the PCB, and so not with the keys either).
I don't know what I received a few weeks ago but it must have been something else entirely. The new batch is as @pyridine described 5 pages ago, which differs slightly in the packaging from what is shown in SM's video.

Re: Upgraded keypad
redglyph, I noticed the same as you regarding the dome placement. I have a new DM42 with the upgraded domes/larger logo, etc. from SM. I am going to replace those domes with replacement domes. I am hoping for some luck and a better experience.
Waiting for SM to release DM42 hardware with one additional row of keys.

Finally installed the new domes on the older DM42, and the DM41X Beta. Now to use them a bit more.

Re: Upgraded keypad
I recently installed the new domes on an early DM42 and the keys now appear to work perfectly.
Re: Upgraded keypad
Just installed the new foil on my DM41 beta that had some problems with missing keystrokes. Problems are gone and the keyboard overall is much better now. Its worth changing if you have the beta.

Re: Upgraded keypad
...aand it came to my calc as well.
My 42 is not beta or "prelaunch", but from the first batch sent out as ordinary shipment.
Mine mostly had trouble register "Enter" and "+" key.
New dome foil installed, and it's a whole new world in usability. Can almost even "speeddial" now.
@redglyph; I didn't notice any (more) noisyness with the new foil I received. Rather the opposite.
The one which is noisy, is my WP43, but that isn't relevant for this topic.
