Bug: Reset in protected area

Post by Guenter »

When mandel is run, DM42 hooked to USB, no issues. But doing that on battery with the parameters -2,1,-1,1 and niter=100 will result in the message "Reset in protected area" RegID d3770103 Fw 3.1

Seems to be some kind of power problem.

which resolution are you using ? 200 or 400 ?
i've tried the 200 version on battery with no issue, but my battery is new, I just received my dm42.

400 - The battery is rather new also (2.85V). I don't think the program is causing the reset. Guess it's the DM42 system.

I'm trying to reproduce the crash with 400 on battery. I have completed half of the drawing. So far so good. when did the problem occurred ? the begining or the end ?

do you have the problem on both your devices (beta and prod)?

A program, whatever mistakes it could contains, shouldn't be able to crash the system so there is probably something going on here.

Edit : I've completed the whole drawing with the same parameters and a resolution of 400, and no crash at all. Just after the program has completed his job, the battery voltage was 2.779 V.

I've been trying to reproduce the same with FW 3.1 powered from battery - no problem with Beta HW.

Ok, I'll wait for Michael and Dave to return from their deserved rest.

News! My third run, after the first two led to the "Reset in protected Area", went ok. Program start at 2.85V - just prior to the drawing 2.88V, now drawing finished 2.83 - kopfkratz.

4th run without problems. Looks as if the DM42 needs a burn in at first ;) . Let's see how the 5th run will do.
