I may have missed any earlier discussion of this question but is there a program function that will display a specified OFFIMG file?

Short answer: No.
Longer answer: No, because the HP-42S machine simulated by the DM42 application has no knowledge of the file system where the OFFIMG bitmaps are stored.

humm, ok, but since Free42 is a 42S simulator, and not a 42S emulator running a black-box HP original 42S ROM, the code of Free42 should be available for additions, modifications and other optimizations.....
