Empty CUSTOM menu

Post by Boub65 »

Hi all,
When there is no programs assigned in the CUSTOM menu... the UP/DOWN annunciator is present.
I suppose that was the original HP42s behavior but...
...that's weird, because there is no need to explore an "empty" CUSTOM menu.
Just my 0.02 cents
Boubker.
Sincèrement, Sincerely, 73,
Boubker

What if, for some reason, you wanted to assign a program to the second row and leave the first blank? :D

Exactly. :D In other words, the CUSTOM menu always has three rows, and so the multi-row (up/down) annunciator is always on while CUSTOM is active, whether any assignments have been made or not.

Hahahaha,
No problem Logan & Thomas...
I will check with he UP/DN keys every time I hit the CUSTOM menu to check that I still have no assigment in my third row, just in case I forgot...

It is still weird... :?:

Why would you do that? How does a forgotten item in the custom menu hurt? Take care of that once you need that slot for something else.

Why not just show the annunciator if there's at least one entry in one of the other two rows?

Quatsch!

If the real HP-42S is the standard, it's the standard. Period.

I was speaking tongue-in-cheek, but yes, I think the HP-42S is amazingly well-designed, and in my effort to replicate it, I try to stay as close to that design as I can. I've made exceptions for bugs — don't want to replicate those — and one or two other things, like turning on the up/down annunciator when the Up or Down keys are assigned in the programmable menu, and adding some of the Time Module functions. But I see nothing wrong with the behavior of the up/down annunciator in the CUSTOM menu on the 42S, so that works the same in Free42.
