UPDATE: DMCP-3.23 / DM42-3.21

This is where announcements of official firmware updates provided by SwissMicros for the DM42 calculator will be made.

Please do not post bug reports here. The Usage tips, tricks and problem reports forum is there for that.

Please do not post notices of third party firmware builds here, they will be deleted. Instead, please use the Third Party firmware builds forum for this purpose.

Unfortunately, I was not as lucky as the others.
[snip]
Perhaps this has to do with the fact that I connected the DM42 to power to save batteries?

What can I do now? Thanks!
Just saw this now....

I assume you've resolved the issue??

If not, what else have you tried?

If so, were you able to identify the cause?

And to answer your implied question, plugging-in the USB for power will adversely affect the update, it can only make it safer and faster.

Update worked fine, thank you very much!
Only one question:
Maybe the dm42help.htm help file at https://technical.swissmicros.com/dm42/fat/HELP/ got also an update?
Yes, both the help file and User Manual were also updated, though very minor updates in both cases.

Thank you very much for your interest.
Unfortunately, I was not able to solve it.
I kept it another three hours as it were (with 22% success). Then I tried a reset which did not work. Finally, I opened the calculator, took the battery out, and back after a short time. There were little dots on the screen. I took the battery out for a longer period (30 minutes) and took it back. Now it was dead and I was unable to wake it up again.

When I opened it I saw a strange white liquid (see photo). I am absolutely sure that this was not brought in by me. Can this be the reason?

That white goo is Silastic or similar, and should be elastic to the touch.
It's used to mechanically hold the piezo beeper in place, so definitely not the cause.

For FW recovery, did you try to enter Bootloader mode?
Open the DM42, press the PGM button, press and release Reset button, release PGM button.
Then you can use dm_tool to flash a fresh FW.

See user manual, chapter 6.6 and 6.7

The "strange white liquid" looks like silastic (silicone elastomer). It should have set into a solid.
