UPDATE: DMCP-3.21 / DM42-3.18b2 BETA RELEASE

Post by grsbanks »

This release includes the patch to Free42 to correct the complex number problem that slipped through everyone's testing...

As usual, you can find the update procedure in the manual and the firmware itself is available here: https://technical.swissmicros.com/dm42/firmware/

Free42 is at version 3.02......will the DM42 get Free42 version 3.02 in the final release? It says version 3.01 in the 2nd Beta DM42 now.

Did the Free42 3.01 Windows program have the former Complex Number issue that the DM42 had in the first previous Beta of 3-26-2021?...I could do square roots of negative numbers in the former Free42 3.01 program, curious if it had the bug since I could not see it..I did not use the previous Beta1 DM42 flash that had the Complex Number issue, so maybe I was using the wrong keystrokes to see the bug in the Free42 3.01 program if it was there.. Taking the roots of complex numbers on the previous Free42 3.01 program worked fine for me...

No. The code changes in question were made after 3.0.1 was released, and the problem with the changes was fixed before 3.0.2. So you should be fine with Free42 3.0.1 and 3.0.2.

(Free42 3.0.2 does contain several bug fixes, but the complex number issue never affected any official Free42 release.)

The new unlimited stack makes me really happy. I bought a DM42 as an HP48 replacement, but the XYZT interface never clicked. Now it does.

Major thanks to Thomas Okken and gsrbanks. :D

I deserve none of the credit :) That should go to our "man behind the curtain", David!
