Great update! Now I can load my DM42 state onto my iPhone. Saves a lot of hassle. Also I really like the ability to change word size for base conversions. I don’t often do base conversions, but when I do it’s either 8 or 16 bits. Thanks SM and Thomas!

Did anything change regarding state files?
Which reminds me: I mislabelled a state file (clumsiness) and want to rename it or delete it and start over but I haven't yet found any options for either. Possible?

Assuming this is on a DM42....

1. Connect the USB FAT drive
2. On your PC or MAC, use File Explorer or Finder to go to the STATE folder
3. Copy the current state file to your PC/Mac
4. Rename the file to whatever you want it to be
5. Copy this file to the STATE folder
6. Exit the USB disk mode
7. Use the menu to go to the "Calc State> [oldname]" option
8. Pick Load State
9. Select the file with the new name and open it
10. Enjoy your new state file w/proper name

You can use USB Drive mode again to go back to the same folder and delete the old file with the incorrect name, but it takes so little space, I'd ignore it until the next time you connect to your PC.

Thanks. Yes it is re a DM42, as I assumed that the DM42 is what Thomas was talking about. I was hoping to avoid the use of another device, but OK: have cable, can travel.

If you want to do it on your DM42, here is what you can do:
  1. Save the current state in a new state file
  2. Load the state file you want to rename
  3. Save the new current state under the new name
  4. Load the state file you saved in step 1 to retrieve the initial state
  5. For removing the unwanted state files (created in step 1, loaded in step2), you’ll still need to connect to a computer
Note: steps 1 and 4 are only needed if you want to keep your DM42 in a different state than the one saved in the state file you want to rename.

Thanks. I had already created a second state file with the new name, as you have suggested. What I was hoping for was a way to remove the wrongly named state file (or rename it immediately to achieve the same effect in the 42 itself) so I didn't save updates to the misnamed one instead of the correctly named one and have a doubly wrong set to sort out.

When it comes to keys and buttons I have a uncanny ability to hit the wrong ones and then noticing until too late. What am I doing here getting wet on the roof when I left my bike and poncho in the basement? Last X is my best friend.
