Power-off mode

Offers several levels of power off with different components switched on/off. Useful for diagnosing excessive power consumption.
Which components need to be switched on when the calculator is switched off?
I am actually having a bit of bother which seems related to power. Several months ago I updated my (beta) DM42, and it died after a few days. Replacing the battery helped for another few days, then it died again.

I then put the calculator away, forgot about it for a while, and then updated it a couple of weeks ago (to 3.11), but it still has the same problem. I suspected the batch of batteries I was using and bought a new one from a different brand. I installed it a couple of days ago, and guess what - today my calculator is dead.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Hello H2X,
Did you get any response from Swissmicros (if you asked one or both) ?
Many thanks in advance,
Thomas

hopefully a completely satisfactory answer. Anything relevant for other owners?

This latest update to both the DMCP and DM42/Free42 parts of the DM42's firmware brings the following improvements:
  • DMCP-3.12
    • Firmware update from FAT - doesn't wait for key press after successful flashing
    • RESET+[+] jumps directly to MSC mode (checks for firmware and keymap file and installs them without confirmation)
    • Support for reset.bmp (loaded from /reset.bmp)
    • (Devel) System keymap support (loaded from /keymap.bin)
    • (Testing) "System->Power OFF mode" menu item
    • DMY/MDY switch on date setting screen
  • DM42-3.12
It would be great if someone could upload a step-by-step video to do the firmware update.

I can't even get my PC to recognise the DM42 although I have installed the driver.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Try a few different USB cables. Some lack the data lines and are only designed for charging.
