Does the training include failures that come as a surprise? After all, you don't announce to your passengers before taxiing to the runway that "Today we're going to have an engine failure four hours into the flight and 300nm from the nearest land (Greenland) so we'll have to return to Gander where you can't buy anything to eat, but don't worry, we've prepared for exactly that scenario", do you?
AFAIK from another airline, all those simulated failures come as a surprise. Else it won't be half the fun. ;)

Walter is correct,

All surprises.

Dm42 will be filmed on the flight deck next week in the actual aircraft :)

Until then:

Thanks for the pictures. :) Though people could get the impression you play all the time ... ;)

Very reassuring. I was just confused by your post saying you "will" have certain trouble on the simulated leg from Beijing to Toronto.

The pictures: wow, you really have a few gems there. I must say those LED types fit rather better into a flightdeck with all instruments (back-)illuminated, IMHO. Then again, the DM42 is a few decades younger than those birds, so it might feel more at home in the 787.

Cheers, Geoff. (HHC2018)
Prior to HHC2018 Torben and I will visit parts of the National Parks in BC and AB from either Seattle, Vancouver or Calgary. Not decided yet. But if we set out from YVR or YYC there is a good chance to be pax of AC, so watch out :)

@Günter - While in AB, be sure to visit Banff National Park, Lake Louise and Jasper. All stunningly beautiful. I'm jealous...

Those places are the reason for us to go there.

Completed draft copy of the book :o

Actually, biggest scare is checked lithium battery powered devices;

In simulator today on a trip from Beijing to Toronto and will experience a flight control jammed forcing a return to Beijing, dumping fuel, calculating stop distances, brake energy, fuse plug melting, landing distance at max overweight landing, tire rotation max speed considerations and compound that with language problems.

Once landed, start over (normally at pub with beer after that kind of a day) and try again but enroute over Russia,Yakutsk we have a fire problem in the cabin requiring an emergency max speed descent to Yakut airport for vodka.

Yep, airplanes don’t think yet, hopefully pilots do :?:

Cheers, Geoff
Emergency landings at airports for having some drinks afterwards throws a bad light on you ;)
Honestly, good pilots are worth every penny paid *thumbs up*

Playing with calculators or reading comics (confirmed by a friend, long time ago when passengers could visit the cockpit) doesn't matter :)

Back to topic.
Update went smooth like last time.
Future updates from FAT - great! Didn't remember which SW for flashing, so I wasted some time looking for it.
