Yes in principle but:
  • 1 kilobyte is 1 kB = 1000 bytes. Remember kg, km, kV, etc.
  • Those kibibytes were created by the IEC. Credit where credit is due. The SI just recommends them.
  • At the bottom line, a byte is no SI unit, so SI is in no way authorized to regulate anything in this area.
  • IEC, on the other hand, doesn't seem to be qualified for coherent regulations since 1 kB = 1000 bytes <> 1 KB = 1024 bytes but 1 MB = 10^6 bytes <> 2^20 bytes = 1 MB ?? Never seen MiB printed on any product case so far.

None of this explains the senseless specification "Flash memory: 32 MBit external flash". I still suspect that it is the incorrect takeover of the speed.

It is not a mistake. It should be 64MBit. Probably came from a prototype-stage value which hasn't been updated for some reason. Thanks for pointing it out! It will be corrected.

Seems I need some extra logic lessons. Is it a mistake or not now? 64MBit = 8MByte.

I meant to say it wasn't a mistake on invariant's part. But his phrase structure clearly doesn't imply he meant that, so I was the one being illogical there.

The mistake is on the website and will be corrected. It is 64MBit and not 32MBit.
