The HP42S Owner's manual manual says that pressing CLP ENTER ENTER clears the current program but in my DM42 it shows the error "Internal error".

Free42 does it correctly.

If CLP "" returns Internal Error, that indicates that the current program pointer has become invalid for some reason. That could be a Free42 bug, but it will be difficult to troubleshoot unless you are able to reproduce the problem from a fresh state. In the meantime, though, you should be able to fix the bad state using GTO . . or GTO to any global label.
