Re: Back refuse come apart-DM42
Make sure you don't have a cord plugged into the USB slot.
Separate the back from the front from the top of the device.
There are some keyed slots in the bottom edge, so the cover doesn't just pull off.

I've seen the video and the DM42 cover don't fall away like that,
both front and back stick together refuse to come apart.

Re: DM42-back cover refuse to come apart for battery replacement
Since you can see in the video how it should open, separating at the top, I suggest using a spudger, Popsicle stick, or similar soft material tool (worst case a small flat screwdriver tip ti slide into the slot where upper and lower case edges meet on the top of the unit to "crack" the seal. As it has not been opened in many years, it has simply become slightly stuck and once you crack that seal, it will come apart easily.
Good luck and please report your results.

I'd recommend using a jack hammer.

Re: DM42-back cover refuse to come apart for battery replacement
Hi guys,
I just notice I didn't reply back with the results after watching suggested video.
When you look at the main housing and the thinner back plate, the screw hole alow you to push
a thin plastic tool against the thread and at the same time holding or puling back the back plate.
In this way I gained enough pressure to pop off the back plate and replaced the battery.
In some way It may be helpful to other users.
Thank you for all the reply .

Re: DM42-back cover refuse to come apart for battery replacement
You shouldn't need to do that. After removing the screws, you should be able to lift up the top edge of the back plate and exert a small amount of force towards the bottom edge to disengage the three slots on the bottom edge of the back plate from the mating plastic protrusions on the front half of the calculator.daZZa wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 1:22 pmHi guys,
