A few more images and an update to my process.

Finish image in Lightroom to my taste. A good place to create a virtual copy and adjust contrast a bit more strong than normal for a good conversion. It is also a good time to desaturate the image so you can see the B&W version. Crop with a 4:2.4 ratio. Export to a PSD file at 70 ppi.

Open in HyperDither. Adjust. Export to PNG.

Open in Photoshop. Image > Mode > Grayscale. A good time to select the subject, inverse the selection and delete the background with a black or white fill. Optional but really helps on certain images. Resize to 400 x 240 at 70 ppi. Image > Mode > Bitmap. Save as Bitmap.

This is a photo of the comet we saw back in 2017. HyperDither vs not using it.

Thanks Walter. I didn't realize I had a three photo limit. I removed the first photo you were referring too I believe.

Below should have the photo. The difference between using HyperDither and not using it. The cleaner version used HyperDither.

Personally, I prefer et.bmp where black is black - the dynamic range looks greater there.

A new update on the 2019 comet and an eye.

I converted both to B&W in Lightroom. I used the B&W High Contrast Preset. I thought about using B&W Punch, but went this direction. I then went into PS, Greyscale, Resized, and then to Bitmap.

For the comment I used a Threshold layer before resizing.
