Here's an image of the Fireworks Galaxy, NGC6946.
Funny how it looks much better when actually in the DM42
The image is from a picture I took about a month ago, the original image is here:

I will post more astronomy OFFIMG's in this thread later on
Btw - this time I used the dithering function in Affinity Photo, which does a great job.

Re: Astronomy OFFIMG's
Great pictures as before! I think NGC6946 is better suited for offimg display than the horsehead.
WP43 SN00000, 34S, and 31S for obvious reasons; HP-35, 45, ..., 35S, 15CE, DM16L S/N# 00093, DM42β SN:00041
Re: Astronomy OFFIMG's
That's quite a serious telescope you have in your back yard if you can image the Horse Head Nebula like that!
Please do share more such images, lots of fans here besides me.
IDK the image Walter refers to by its catalog number, but no doubt I will by the image...

Re: Astronomy OFFIMG's
Agree - the Fireworks Galaxy looks better.
I guess amongst amateur astronomers it is very average, a 10" newtonian telescope with a little extra necessary gadgets attachedrprosperi wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 3:07 pmThat's quite a serious telescope you have in your back yard if you can image the Horse Head Nebula like that!

Here's a fresh image from tonight, it's a clear night again tonight. Now the telescope is acuiring images for an exo-planet transit.

Re: Astronomy OFFIMG's
rudi, do you find Affinity Photo worth the money still? The reviews have seem to head south on the AppStore. I had dismissed it until you mentioned the dithering option.
Here is a comet photo I took in 2019 with my Sony and 300mm Cannon.
PS Your photo conversion of NGC6946 is AWESOME!

Re: Astronomy OFFIMG's
Yes, it is definitely worth the money. Not as good as PS and LR, but they’re also in another price group.48GX wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 2:55 amrudi, do you find Affinity Photo worth the money still? I mostly use AF for family photo editing, only very rarely to Astro photography, for that I use AstroArt.

Re: Astronomy OFFIMG's
Thank you. I am referring specifically to the dithering function and export to BMP. Does it export directly to BMP? PS does a horrible job at dithering. I am running my images through Hyperdither first and then to PS.
