@tuxfish, nice story

I think it is important to share culture. The same for us (France) and UK; we left part of our culture in Canada (Quebec for us) and in some part of Africa. In the same way, some africans speaks a better french than us, and have a very good knowledge of the french history.
In heraldry, "Rampant is the most frequent attitude of quadrupeds": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attitude_ ... y)#Rampant
Indigenous peoples of the Americas and their descendants would disagree.
Yes in principle but "this matter" was heraldry (see above). And don't you get worked up over indigenous peoples of the Americas and what's left of them. The vast majority of Europeans going to the Americas were desperate lower class at home before and behaved accordingly. Wasn't really prime choice overall.Mark Hardman wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 1:29 amIndigenous peoples of the Americas and their descendants would disagree.
Speaking of heraldry, I recently found out why in the cartoon Underdog, one of the villains was named Simon Bar Sinister. In heraldry to have a line on the left (bar sinister) means there was an illegitimate child in the line. In other words, a bastard. What a way to name a cartoon character!Joe Horn wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 11:32 pmIn heraldry, "Rampant is the most frequent attitude of quadrupeds": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attitude_ ... y)#Rampant

Interesting! Thanks Tom for that insight, I wondered many times where that character's name came from.Very Interesting cartoon character naming process indeed. Would have been interesting to hear that discussion in the writer's room.toml_12953 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 11:12 amSpeaking of heraldry, I recently found out why in the cartoon Underdog, one of the villains was named Simon Bar Sinister.
