Help with off images
I have tried to converted a few photos to off images. I resized them to 400x240, 1 bit depth using gimp but they consistently error once they're on the dm42. Any suggestions on how to do it right?
Re: Help with off images
Post a sample image here and we'll see if we can tell you what's wrong with it.

Did you change the Mode to Indexed with Floyd-Steinberg dithering? If not, open the Image menu to get to the mode menu.rbrooks5031 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 5:38 pmI have tried to converted a few photos to off images. Re: Help with off images
I worked with good ol' Paint and didn't need anything as complex. Please do as grsbanks suggested and we'll have a look what to do.toml_12953 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 11:37 pmDid you change the Mode to Indexed with Floyd-Steinberg dithering? Re: Help with off images
Since he's already using Gimp, four mouse clicks (click Image, Mode, set bits to 2, click on Floyd-Steinberg) doesn't seem like a lot of work to me. How do you dither in Paint? I wouldn't mind using Paint if I could get the dithering to work.Walter wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 3:30 amI worked with good ol' Paint and didn't need anything as complex. Re: Help with off images
Hmmh, the OP's problem wasn't the dithering, was it? Once more, I think grsbanks' offer is best and to the point.toml_12953 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 7:10 amSince he's already using Gimp, four mouse clicks (click Image, Mode, set bits to 2, click on Floyd-Steinberg) doesn't seem like a lot of work to me. Re: Help with off images
I use Gimp. I have no problems only if i scale in 72 p/in.

Re: Help with off images
At the end of the process, resizing, dithering... I EXPORT the file to bmp, don't save it but export it as bmp and it works.

Re: Help with off images
Correct. Gimp (at least the version I use) doesn't even let you use Save or Save As to save a file in BMP format. You have to use Export.

Re: Help with off images
Dithering really has nothing to do with it. He's using Gimp and I gave him the necessary procedure for creating an image in Gimp (I did leave off using Export rather than Save) that loads without error. If you don't follow the correct procedure, you get an error when trying to use the image. That's what he's seeing. And once more, how do you create a loadable image in Paint?Walter wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 7:27 amHmmh, the OP's problem wasn't the dithering, was it?
