Hi,
to be honest, the firmware-update process seems to be a mere disater (at least for half of my devices).
DM 42 update (3.13) executed almost smoothly.
DM 41 L update performed so so, the third attempt was succesful.
DM 11 L and DM 15 L (from V. 2.4 to V. 2.8): negative.
DM 11 L says, after pressing the RESET-Butten (btw, it's not a button, it's a hole), "SERIAL CONSOLE", and basta.
DM 15 L: Update-Tool says "Warning: data not aligned to 32 bits, padded (length was 9CF5, now 9CF8)
Firmware loaded, ready to update." The rest is similar to DM 11: Null, nada, niente, rien, nichts, zero.
System is W 10, drivers must have been correctly installed, dito the respective update-tool (cf. DM 42 and DM 41).
Any suggestions?
All the best,
Hans

Re: Firmware-Update DM 11, DM 15
You sometimes have to press the RESET button more than once.
What do you mean by "negative". Nobody can help you with that.
All the Voyager units say "SERIAL CONSOLE" when you press the RESET button. It's part of the process.
Ditto about the "not aligned to 32 bytes" if the length is not a multiple of 32 bytes then it is padded to become that way. It's just status information, it's not an error.

Re: Firmware-Update DM 11, DM 15
G., thanks for the input.
"negative" just means "nothing (positive) happened".
This morning, I tried the procedure again (and again).
Now, I can summarise as follows (both DM 11 L and DM 15 L):
The first time I'am pressing "RESET" the Calculator says "serial console" (in upper case letters of course).
The second and following time(s) pressing "RESET", Calculator says "pr error", same after a short while when I do nothing. So the device does not receive any signal, I suppose.
What is astonishing, the same procedure worked well with the DM 41. Maybe the "pr error" provides an indication of a hardware problem with the connecting cable? I have to find another one. --> Unfortunately, no improvement with other cables. Next try will be on another Computer.
Any other hints will be highly appreciated.
Thank you,
Hans

PR Error is normal. All the Voyager machines (except the DM41) display this when the firmware is updated.

Since it is not a Voyager in the first place...

Re: Firmware-Update DM 11, DM 15
Finally, it worked. I had the Firmware-Update-Tool to start in administrator's mode. After the first succesful update, I had to shut down the tool and start it as an administrator again. It took the second cevice several tries, but eventually...
Thanks a lot for your help and patience,
Hans

True, technically speaking. However, the DM41L is in a "Voyager" format case and gets lumped in with the DM10L/11L/12L/15L/16L as a "Voyager" unit, particularly as its electronics are identical to those machines. They're all identical from a hardware point of view. Only the firmware changes.

Don't get me started on the landscape abom... adaptation they made.grsbanks wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2019 1:33 pmTrue, technically speaking. And it's the firmware that outputs that "Pr Error" or "MEMORY LOST"

Re: Firmware-Update DM 11, DM 15
Not everybody is a fan, I know
I do prefer the original format and usually have my trusty 41CX within reach at work at least, but I'm not that dead set against the concept of the DM41.
