Re: Is purchasing DM16L as well as DM42 redundant?

So the question for me is; how much worth are the named variables, and the same UI between my phone and the calculator, for me? Taking into account that I already have a Beta DM41X unit, and the only difference with the production unit is the improved keyboard. Everybody's usage patterns will be di...

Re: Is purchasing DM16L as well as DM42 redundant?

If you could have only one calculator, would the 42 or the 41 (in either of HP original or DM clones) be the more powerful? Even though the 42 is newer, it seems like the 41 might be more flexible and expandable overall. I'm a bit in the same boat; I could afford to buy one production level DM calc...

Re: Unclear "Save Raw Program" behaviour

If the Alpha register is not empty, than the DM tries to save the Program with the first LABEL with the name in the Alpha. If the are the letters "ABC" in the alpha then the DM tries to save the Program that has LBL "ABC" as the first label. If ABC is in alpha and there is no LB...

(Solved) Unclear "Save Raw Program" behaviour

I am running the latest firmware (2.1) on my DM41X, and I see something strange in the "Save Raw Program" file menu: When the Alpha register is empty, and I select "Save Raw Program" from the Setup -> File menu, the "<new file>" dialog asks me for the name, and the raw ...

Re: Fancy Leather Cases

The https://www.valenta.com/en/belt-cases page has quite a few. Do you know what model you gave? It's the Durban Black 4XL. That does have a belt loop, unfortunately, but it is flat, so it's not in the way fortunately. I bought them a few years ago, and the leather quality on mine is really good. I...

Re: Fancy Leather Cases

I did see a thread where someone was using a leather smartphone belt holster and the ensuing argument about global trade, but that doesn’t quite fit the bill. That Valenta belt holder is made from sturdy felt lined leather. I bought a few (not sure if they are still available), and one already save...

Re: Why not a DM17BII?

Is there a summary anywhere of the capabilities of the various Solvers? Not that I know of. There are some articles online about the HP 27S and 19B (and 17Bii) solver, and there is also enough to find about the traditional RPN solvers (like in the 15C and the 42S). But I don't know about a comparis...

Home made alpha legends for the DM41X Beta

For my beta DM41X calculator, I made a quick Powerpoint alpha legends backside. It's a stopgap, of course, because eventually I will give in as well, and order a production DM41X for myself :) For the time being, I just taped over it with (ahem) "invisible" tape. Probably looks much better...

Re: Why not a DM17BII?

Does the solver in the iOS 17BII simulator product produce identical results for all the examples in the excellent HP book "HP 27S HP 19B Technical Applications" ? From memory, yes (but that is some time ago). If you specifically mean whether the simulator implements the L(), G(), and var...

Re: Why not a DM17BII?

Because it would be much more expensive than a second hand hp17bii that you can grab for a dozen bucks. I have two of those already, plus a full manual set; they go (or used to go?) cheap indeed. Cons: - no import / export / save & load state / ... - not a great display - solver is great but slow
