Re: DAY>YEAR>MONTH option??? Or is it the D>M>Y option...

However, if the current state is obvious from the screen, then I prefer the button to be neutral, e.g. like the choose/chk button on 48/50. i.e. the button merely indicates the thing that is being changed, but not any particular state. e.g. the CLK12/CLK24 button might be labelled "12HR/24HR&q...

Re: DAY>YEAR>MONTH option??? Or is it the D>M>Y option...

I agree with Geoff. I also think it is important to realize that there is a difference between a user interface element that is used purely as a control, and one that also serves as a status indicator. In the former case, it doesn't matter much whether or not the current status is specifically indic...

KA - Key Assignment
Thanks, Bob, for explaining this abbreviation appearing out of a blue sky (IMO).
In my opinion, abbreviations are generally best avoided, for the sake of clarity. But your mileage may vary. :D

Re: DM42 skin for the Free42 simulator

For the issue about downloading from Github, I'm not sure how it is implemented on the app side so I don't know what is causing problems. If I can do something to improve this please let met know Thomas, otherwise I may eventually see if I can quickly generate a "Github pages" with the sk...

Re: DM42 skin for the Free42 simulator

690×1297 should be enough for anyone.

(OK, I'm just too lazy to mirror all those sizes.)

Re: DM42 skin for the Free42 simulator

Loading from https://thomasokken.com/free42/skins/ does work. It looks like the browser in Free42 isn't handling the links on StreakyCobra's site properly. You should be able to avoid using the built-in HTTP server by downloading the files on the phone using Safari, and then using Files to copy them...

Re: DM42 skin for the Free42 simulator

Thanks! I'll post the new versions of the 2x and 4x sizes in my skin collection this weekend. Maximizing the sensitive rectangles is a good idea. It does not affect the skins visually, but it makes the keys easier to hit. I performed this operation on all the skins in my collection years ago, using ...

Re: UPDATE: DMCP-3.17 / DM42-3.15rc1

None of the changes since 2.5.16 affect the DM42. Most of them are OS-specific changes for iOS and MacOS, and 2.5.17a will have more changes for iOS and Android. The only change to the simulator core since 2.5.16 is a fix for a memory leak in core_paste(), and that function is not used by the DM42. ...

Re: Wrong Space/MEM-sizes after saving a calculatorstate

The amount of memory shown by shift-[CATALOG] [MEM] is the amount of free memory available in the DM42 calculator program (i.e. for saving user programs or variables) and is not directly related to the amount of space a state file takes when stored. The state file is *not* simply a byte dump of of ...

Re: Save FOCAL's and ROM's from the 41OS

Ah, OK. I thought it sounded like you were holding up the DM42 as a cautionary tale of piling on too much additional functionality on top of the original, and that confused me a bit. The DM42 certainly has a good amount of extra functionality, but I haven't heard anyone complain there is too much of...
