Re: New DM42 - cannot access USB Drive

The SN is nothing to be concerned about, they definitely are NOT shipped in SN order; lot are made in batches and then shipped/stored/tested/etc. so the SN order is not at all preserved, adjacent units can easily be more than 1000 units apart. The most common causes for no connection are: a. Cable i...

Re: When to replace DM42 Battery?

Yes, once you see it is a bar down, I suggest you install a new battery. The 'spec' limit is actually lower, but pragmatically this is the proper thing to do. As there is no battery checking during program execution (to avoid slowing run time by thousands of checks) and sustained run-times require l...

Re: From HEPAX to ROM or MOD ?

Epic post Sylvain, Bravo!!!

The hex-edits to un-link the HEPAX page and the RAM extraction details are real gold in here, but the extraordinary effort to document this entire process is significant and much appreciated, THANK YOU!!

Re: "HEPAXA" command in Modified Hepax module

Thanks Max! It's frustrating not having my stuff available when on vacation... and I totally forgot it was renamed as I've been using real HEPAX modules in the past 2 years.

Re: "HEPAXA" command in Modified Hepax module

When I am executing HEPAXA command it said "NONE EXISTENT" The "HEPAXA" command requires you to put the function name in the Alpha register, rather than using a function number. Examples: To use a sub-command directly (e.g. to use BCAT, Block Catalog), which is function 002): [X...

Re: DM42, DM32 or C43?

There will be no new version of the DM42 in 2023, and possibly ever. It is feasible in the distant future (2025+) but depends on continuing demand, supply chain and related situations... Thanks to make this clear, this will help SwissMicros avoiding the Osborne effect. [/quote] That was exactly the...

Re: DM42, DM32 or C43?

You do not mention the DM41 which is its own path really. The same is true for the DM32. Both are more for people who prefer descendants of their historical favourites... I'd buy a DM42, preferably when the new hardware revision comes out in 2023 . With that you can always decide to run it as such ...

Re: DM42, DM32 or C43?

Rudi's point is a good one if options are important, but that said, anyone seriously considering a DM32 and a 43C equally likely should look further into details on both machines, as they are at opposite ends of the RPN programmable spectrum. The DM32's virtues are easily accessible, simple programm...

Re: Why is the DM42's framerate so terrible?

So I've tried the setting RefLCD to -1 trick and was impressed by how quickly the CPU can redraw the display. Would changing the 200ms timeout to, say, 20ms be a quick and easy change to integrate into custom firmware , or even provide a setting allowing the user to choose their timeout? I understa...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, isn't the WP43 now a dead subject? (At least in terms of SM) The prototypes are all that will ever be?
As regards power management (and performance optimization I believe) WP43 and C43 share the same core code base, so the comments apply to both projects.
