The date-and-time string in the status bar is updated every minute or after a keystroke. Thus, when you use SETDAT, the new date is recorded immediately but the status bar will be updated up to a minute later. This applies to SETTIM as well.

This is not exactly what you reported but maybe a hint.

I've notice occasionally that when I first power on the calculator the date and time in the status bar does not get updated right away. It does appear to update after I start doing some data entry.
