Re: OFFIMG: Leibniz and Hewlett Re: A few to get you started
Is it just me- or are the attached images being scrubbed for everyone? I can see a broken image... If you right click it and open in a new tab or new window, you get a web page on Dropbox showing a picture of a Batmobile. It's the right size and looks black and white, but has been converted to a JP...

Re: DM42 Firmware V3.3 available
I had to press the RESET button twice. I used dfu-util on Linux for a change (because I hadn't tried it before, having previously used dm_tool on Windows and Linux). I pressed the RESET button once after dfu-util finished flashing the firmware. Then a message was displayed telling me to press the RE...

Re: Petition to allow RPN calculators in UK public examinations
https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/regulating-use-of-calculators-in-new-gcses-as-and-a-levels Thank you for this. Problem is, I've read through it now and I'm none the wiser about what the consultation was about or what the outcomes were. Democracy, ladies and gentlemen. I think the consul...

Re: Petition to allow RPN calculators in UK public examinations
There was a consultation on regulating the use of calculators in GCSEs, AS and A levels a couple of years ago.

I think the UK is the only nation that omits its name from its postage stamps.Thomas Okken wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2018 3:19 am(Also, all the Soviet postage stamps I've seen had CCCP and the denomination on them, and this picture has neither.)

Re: Calculating tools
I think that Time Voyager story would have been a bit too geeky for the Omni audience! I tracked the story down though: Newton's Gift by Paul J. Nahin. It was reprinted in a couple of his books, "Time Machine Tales" and "Number Crunching". (The "Number Crunching" book i...

Re: Calculating tools
Talking of Beep, does anyone remember a story from OMNI magazine about a time traveller who takes a calculator back in time as a gift for Isaac Newton? (I think the calculator was described as having a red LED display and a nuclear battery!)

Re: Keyboard debouncing
I noticed the key-bouncing problem when I first got the calculator, but I haven't noticed it much recently. I don't know whether the improvement is due to "bedding in" of the keyboard, or due to firmware updates. I do occasionally get a bounce on releasing the SHOW (shift '.') key, leading...
