Re: Can't understand this result from a few calculators...
From what I can figure out, Classpad (in "Real" mode) gives a real number answer to a negative number raised to a decimal power when (a) the decimal power can be replaced with a fraction and (b) the numerator of the fraction is an even number. If the above two conditions are not satisfied...

Re: Can't understand this result from a few calculators...
It looks like Result 2 is the real part of the complex number in polar coordinates. That would correspond to the vector magnitude, and the imaginary part not shown is the phase angle. Is it really showing the magnitude (modulus) and not just happening to show the one result that lies on the real ax...

Re: buttons that don't register well
sugar is not solveable in IPA... I think it does, but slowly, and not as well as ... It needs hand-warm destilled water, which helps very well in my case. I also failed to consider the fact that dissolving something doesn't make it magically disappear. It will reappear once the solvent has evaporat...

Re: NO BUG: "Sticky" (mechanical) keys
It used to be one of the ingredients of Henderson's Relish, but they changed the recipe to remove it.

Re: buttons that don't register well
due to some sticky stuff between the keys (presumably from little droplets thrown out from a sparkling coke nearby) I had to open my DM42 remove the PCB, clean the keys and assemble the parts together again. If that happens again, you could probably clean it from the front by using an aerosol can o...

Re: buttons that don't register well
If you unclamp the LCD connector too often, the clamping mechanism will fall out completely rather than being partially held in place by the main body of the connector. That happened to mine today. You can still put it back in, but make sure you don't lose it!

Re: NO BUG: "Sticky" (mechanical) keys
I wouldn't recommend spraying beer on the calculator internals!

Re: NO BUG: "Sticky" (mechanical) keys
Is there any glue to hold parts of the keyboard in place or a printing which get accidentally solved since IPA is a good solvent ? I can't think of any parts of the calculator that IPA would dissolve. As a test, I just liberally sprayed the front and back of the keyboard and the sticky-backed plast...

Re: NO BUG: "Sticky" (mechanical) keys
Isopropanol (Isopropyl Alcohol / IPA) is generally good for cleaning electronic equipment. Use the 99% pure kind, not the 70% kind.

Re: program editor line-insertion issue
Yes. Free42 is released under the terms of the GPLv2; the DM42 firmware is a Derived Work; ergo SwissMicros must make the DM42 source code available to their customers. The only way around that would be a separate licensing agreement, under different terms, to be negotiated between SM and myself, b...
