Re: DM42 Firmware V3.5 available

Thanks for the info Geoff. I always get into arguments over this with my family and friends because people use the terms loosely. I do not work in the aviation industry, but my understanding is that a direct flight is one on which the passenger travels on the same equipment from start to finish of t...

Re: DM42 Firmware V3.5 available

Check out this HHC for what calculators can be employed for on the flight deck. https://youtu.be/564WxcPuGsY Geoff, that was a great talk! I watched it on YouTube three times through before noticing you were on this forum. With fancy new features and memory in the DM42, would it be possible to aggr...

Re: DM42 Firmware V3.5 available

I don't think the first post of this thread will be updated as it is about V3.5 which is the last version before the code split, so nothing to change in the update procedure for this version. Ah, yes, you're right. We shouldn't expect notes about future updates in the thread for v3.5. [facepalm]

Re: DM42 Firmware V3.5 available

Thanks for the link, dlachieze. I missed that note in the manual. Hopefully the top post in this thread gets updated with a note about the change.

Re: DM42 Firmware V3.5 available

What does it mean for users that the GPLed part was split into another file? Does the flashing/update procedure change?

Re: PDF of DM42 Quick Reference Guide

All, I posted a new version of the document with updates from Tom at the same link as before. Apparently some links were missing that are now corrected in the document. Enjoy.

Re: Keyboard debouncing

I had this happen with the ‘2’ key immediately out of the box. It’s definitely not an auto repeat issue because I got two 2s with one press of the button, no delay at all. It has only happened once and only with the one key, but unfortunately it’s cost some of my confidence in the machine, and I am ...

Re: February run of DM-42

Finally received mine in Phoenix today. Postmark was from 2/2. Customs obviously inspected the package. No damage, and the calculator was still in the sealed plastic bag, but I think it might explain why these orders are taking so long for some to arrive. In the past, I have received SM orders withi...

Re: LCD burn-in?

The LCD in the DM42 is comparatively new technology from Sharp called "Memory LCD". https://www.sharpsma.com/products?sharpCategory=Memory%20LCD&p_p_parallel=0 It's designed for this and actually uses up zero power to maintain the display when the calculator is switched off. So is thi...
